I first must preface my review by saying that I have not physically been to Muckross House. I wish to give a sincere thanks to Janette at the Mucros Weavers. While in Cobh this past summer, I purchased a scarf made by Mucros Weavers and it was damaged in an unfortunate incident with a suitcase. I was completely unable to find anyone in my area of Philadelphia, PA(USA) willing or able to repair the scarf. And I loved this scarf. It went perfectly with my red hair and blue eyes; people I passed on the street would comment on how lovely the scarf was and how it went so well with my coloring. I reached out to the generic Muckross House email and began a dialogue with Janette. She offered to repair my scarf. A bit worried, I dropped the scarf in international mail. Sure enough, Janette let me know when she received it and gave me an update of when she thought the repairs would be done. I received the repaired scarf today. And it is perfect. I cannot at all tell that it had been damaged. And she even refastened the label. The timing is perfect as we have just had near-record snow falls here! Thank you, Janette and Mucros Weavers. You have a dedicated customer now, and I will look forward to the opportunity to return to Ireland so that I can visit Muckross House itself.

Mucros Craft Shop is on the grounds of Muckross House and Traditional Farm in Killarney National Park. Once you’ve toured Muckross House and environs, you end up in the craft shop. After a couple visits to and weeks spent in Ireland, I decided it was one of the better places I came across to buy higher-end, traditional, non-touristy souvenirs and gifts. Many items for sale in the craft shop are made on-site by traditional artisans. Beautiful weaving such as scarves, sweaters, wraps, hats, and gloves in gorgeous colors and soft fabrics. Pottery in the traditional Mucros style with its distinct coloring and markings: platters, creamers, mugs, bowls, candlesticks. Also offered in the Craft Shop are coffee table books, jewelry, children’s toys, traditional Irish fare, Irish music… you can find yourself a souvenir to treasure as well as gifts to bring home that are sure to be well-received by loved ones. Prices here are really reasonable, too, all things considered. Naturally, you can visit the Craft Shop without having to pay entry fees to the grounds!
