I also posted this review on TripAdvisor. This restaurant was on our short list of ones to try while in Killarney, and it did not disappoint! We walked in without a reservation and were promptly seated and attended to. The interior is small, reminiscent of a Greenwich Village eatery in NYC. The menu is an interesting play on traditional Irish cuisine with modern influence. It is a restaurant for those who want a good meal. The food was incredible. We had the tomato soup and fish cakes as starters. The soup was delicious, rustic and fresh. The fish cakes, were amazing. Our mains were the salmon and the Irish meatballs with colcannon. While I didn’t taste the salmon, the other member of my party stated that it was quite good. My meatballs were delicious! The sauce was sweet and winey, the perfect balance to the meatballs. Dessert was chocolate cake and bread and butter pudding. The cake was good but nothing special. The bread and butter pudding was amazing! The bread was soaked in butter and was oozing buttery goodness. The custard was delicate and didn’t overwhelm the buttery bread. The restaurant owner seemed very hands on which is nice to see. He seated patrons, took orders, served, and even bussed tables. I thought a particularly interesting touch was that the check was presented in the owner’s book. Of course the book is available for purchase, but there was absolutely no pressure to buy the book. This was a fabulous meal at a nice little restaurant in the center of Killarney. It is highly recommended!

Best place we ate when touring Ireland. Had the ostrich steak, Guinness beef stew, and passion fruit custard. It was delicious and I may even go on to say that it has been the best place I’ve ever eaten.

My travel guide book had listed this place as a recommendation for dinner. The food was decent, although given the variety of other options in Killarney(the Smokehouse!) for better food and prices, I probably would not return here. I had a side salad and the crab cake appetizer, both of which were decent, and found the bill to be pretty pricey. Aside from myself there was only one other dinner group.

Just ate here tonight. Fantastic. I had the chowder appetizer and it might just have been the best I’ve ever had. For my main course I had the Irish meatballs. Good but not great. My wife had the risotto and tilt was fantastic. We split a chocolate chip bread and butter pudding that was amazing Didn’t get 5 stars since the meatballs weren’t spectacular. Everything else, including the service, was top notch.

had a fantastic meal in here last friday. everything was just perfect, from the staff to the atmosphere to the food. we had fishcakes and soup for starters, and the fishcakes were just heavenly. main course had two steaks, i always find it hard to get my steak done just the way i like it because i like it cooked blue and it usually ends up rare or medium rare but not this night, it was cooked to perfection and i left nothing on the plate. had a nice pinot grigio to go with the meal and everything was going so well i had to get another bottle just so i didnt have to leave. if you dont eat here you really are missing out!

We ate here last week on our first night in Killarney. The sign on the table went on about how the chef was the best in Europe or something to that effect. My starter was the seafood chowder. In my quest to find the best seafood chowder in Ireland, I would write that their chowder was second only to the seafood chowder at Adare Manor(Adare). All of my friends liked theirs as well. Also sampled were the fish cakes(delicious) and the portobello cheese starter(very good but a bit cold). For a main course I ordered the chicken. The dish was a bit bland. If it wasn’t for the creamed spinach the dish would have virtually no flavor. The potatoes, and over cooked mixed veg could be improved as side dishes. They also served creamed spinach but I already had enough of it on my plate. The wine list was subpar. It wasn’t awful but I expected a better house wine and better overall selection. It’s a restaurant in a great location in Killarney. I would say give it a try if in the area. But my friends who also went to Chapter 40 said Chapter 40 was an overall better restaurant, for the same price. Enjoy!

Super let down by Treyvaud’s. I saw the glowing reviews and thought we were in for a treat. Treyvaud’s feels very stuck in the past. As an example, every dish comes with a choice of salad, fries, or «mixed vegetables» that look like what you get from the freezer section of the grocery store. These are the sides regardless of whether your entrée already comes with potatoes, vegetables, whatever. In modern times that feels like something that should be relegated to chain restaurants; real places should have accompaniments that complement each protein to make one composed plate. The other inexcusable piece is the drink selection. There was only the«house wine» offered by the glass and it appeared to lack either a regional or varietal designation. Needless to say I passed. Just in case you thought you could find refuge in beer, usually the case in Ireland, they only had Guinness, Budweiser and I think Heineken. Nothing wrong with Guinness but it’s not always the right pairing for your fine dining experience. Honestly it’s a shame because the food itself was not bad at all. I had salmon and my wife had bacon and cabbage. Nothing inventive but well-prepared. I found the atmosphere loud and stuffy too. We were crammed in a corner and it was very noisy. I wish we had gone to Chapter 40 or West End House instead.

Stopped off for lunch before tackling the Ring of Kerry, and had one hell of a steak sandwich. Topped with mushrooms, onions and garlic mayo; it was a tasty sight to behold. Treyvaud’s does a prix fix menu on Sundays for 22.95 € per person, but unless you haven’t eaten in days I’d recommend ordering a la carte off the regular menu instead. My girlfriend and I were both able to eat lunch for less than the price of one person to have the prix fix menu, and we were stuffed.

During my stay in Killarney, Treyvauds was my little treat to myself. I had been very disappointed at how hard it was to find authentic Irish cuisine and gave up in the end. Treyvauds advertises as serving international cuisine which is quite accurate as you can find anything from kangaroo to truffle oil to guinea fowl On a tough stretch of the High Street where there are lots of restaurants competing hard for the tourist euro, Treyvauds is aiming at a slightly higher end of the market with slightly higher prices but the food was worth it in the end. My fishcake starter had a lovely smoky flavour as they used smoked haddock. I did also enjoyed the slightly different texture to the normal salmon fishcakes I’ve had a t most restaurants I followed with the Kerry lamb just so that I could have some champ potato. OK, I can’t lie — I do also like lamb but the chance to eat something typically Irish was nice. This restaurant is lovely for its different menu within a high street of similar dishes
