Note: The following review is only of the accommodations, facilities and service. At the end of a long and windy local road, as if your bad dream(yes the roads are THAT scary) is turning in to a fairy tale, you are greeted w/an ornate sign reading Kilrnonan Castle Estate and Spa and a grand arch beaconing you into a world of old world charm and modern luxury. The sprawling driveway leading up to the beautiful Castle won’t allow you enough time to process the beauty of this structure, but it will tease you with a quick glimpse of the immaculate grounds, and draw out the mounting anticipation you will undoubtedly feel while approaching the Castle reception. The pure decadence awaits you while you are a guest here is evident when the friendly hotel staff, lay out the many amenities that lie just within the castle walls. Whether you want to read quietly by the fireside in the study, enjoy some of Irelands finest whiskey at one of the bars, listen to live music, dine at the Michelin Star rated Douglas Hyde Restaurant or pamper yourself with a day at the The SPA it is all within your reach. WIth such a mixed bag of lodging choices,(Inns, B&B’s, Castles, hotels… ahh) and such an obscure view of star ratings and terms like«luxury» that don’t really hold the same weight from place to place, you can rest assured that this Castle is worth every star, accolade, and every penny.
