This restaurant is now closed, in it’s place is another excellent Asian Tapas called Flame.

Sunday night dining often involves empty tables, bad radio and hungover staff-Shanghai Express avoided all the cliches. The place was packed, the clientèle seemed to be all repeat customers, and were a great mix — young, old, married, dates, takeaway drop-ins, interesting looking people. The food was really really nice. I can pay it no greater compliment than say everything came with a different sauce/dip. Also great use of wasabi in the potato, an ingredient that can strike fear and heartburn into many an Irishman. Was very disappointed when my body let me down 5 dishes in and there was room for no more. Menu has a great range and mix of Asian food and every dish was something I had never tried before. The staff were outstanding, had a word for everyone as they entered, incredibly attentive given they were flat out, but never overbearing. The plates were staggered and always seemed to come at the right time. The music was very good — hearing is the one sense you can’t turn off. This is the first Irish tapas I have been to that felt like a place where locals drop in for a bite and a chat, but isn’t a pub. Made me feel like I was on holiday on what was a miserable, wet November night.
