If you’re coming to eat(and you should), come hungry! The food here was amazing — definitely a few steps beyond«pub grub.» We arrived early, and were treated to the early-bird menu, which was an exceptional value(€ 18 for two courses). Honestly, though, I should’ve only ordered one. I started with the seafood chowder, which was excellent and chock full of fishy variety. I was stuffed after that, and didn’t even try the bread. Pushing through, I still managed to appreciate my main of crispy-skin salmon with parsnip mash and parsnip crisps. I wished I could have finished it! Will definitely be back(hopefully when there’s music)! One more note: the ladies’ toilets were really nice — pretty, clean, and had fresh flowers. Very welcome surprise!

The front bar serves one of the best pints of Guinness in the country and has that authentic and locals feel. The restaurant side pint not as good since everyone in there drinks wine and Regular beers so tell them to get it from the front bar. The menu is small but everything I had was delicious. The fish chowder is very good, not too thick or watery and comes with 5 muscles in it and is a meal in its own. The seared duck breast is delicious as well served medium which is pretty good since no place in Ireland will give you med rare or rare anything.

I haven’t been here in years, and they’ve done a really great job with the facelift of this place. They seem to be placing a lot more emphasis on food, and general cosiness which is A-ok with me. The only thing was that the food just wasn’t quite good ENOUGH, and the place just wasn’t quite cosy ENOUGH. Like it was all PRETTY good. But not amazing. Re. cosiness — we were sitting right next to a big open fire that wasn’t lit and it was a really freezing day. Just get her lit lads!!! Re. the food. It was all good, but not sensational. We had chicken wings which had hardly any sauce on them. Sauce that up!!! The brownies were really doughy and not great — none of us finished them. The chowder was delish though as was the brown bread. I think if they just put a little bit of extra thought into the whole situation, this could be a five star-er. But for now, I’m gonna leave it at 3.5

After the movie’s and a very head scratching ‘Interstellar’, needed some straight forward, no nonsense nosh… What better than a € 24 grabone voucher for 2 x 8oz steaks with the trimmings and 2 glasses of house wine! … no thinking required … perfect… Hadn’t been here in many years and had heard good reports on its re opening. Lounge was quite busy, but plenty of staff and we had ordered before sitting down, helps when u don’t have to look at menu, drinks and all served very quick. Medium rare for both of us and was perfectly cooked, not always the way you get it though it should be simple. Fantastic piece of meat and presentation was.. well see for yourself in picture.. gorgeous trimmings of onion and mushroom… and served with a menacing steak knife that I was tempted to use other ways every time I reflected on ‘Interstellar’! In and out in a hour, great service and excellent grub… bought another voucher this morning for same deal as we will defo return!

The Salmon Leap has had a makeover and a very pretty one at that. The outside looks great and the vintage bike is a lovely touch. The food is your average pub grub(burgers, steak, curries) but all the dishes were cooked very well. I found the menu a little limited(4 mains and a special) but we arrived at 4.45 so I’m guessing we got the lunch menu. By 6pm the place was heaving and a queue had formed for the tables so get there early at weekends if you don’t fancy a wait at the bar. Oh and if you have forgotten to make the trip to Tesco for the wife don’t panic, you can also buy Kerrygold, Cornflakes and Wellies behind the bar.

This newly opened pub and restaurant seems to be doing very well, its seems to be very busy at the weekends which is good to see. The décor is traditional and rustic and there is a very friendly atmosphere. The menu contained standard, averagely priced pub grub fare, burger, fish and chip, steak, thai curry. The service is friendly and efficient and the food is homely comfort food, with something for everybody on the menu. My grandad also assured me that the pint of guiness is top notch, and he doesn’t say that lightly!
