Perhaps a little out of the way if you are from Dublin but the care your pet gets(in my case the ever present cat) and the cost of boarding(on average 5 euro a night less than any Dublin based operation) means the Ballymore Boarding Kennels is a great option for somewhere to stash the cat if you are heading off for a few days. Also, the roads from town to Ballymore are great — we get door to door from Sandymount in under an hour. I heard about this place and Suaanne(the owner) from my parents, they swear by it for their moggies. So, last august for summer holidays and again in November for a break we left our beast there. The cat runs are fantastic — lots of space for them to play and stretch and have privacy if they want it. Because there are lots of dogs around the cat runs have music playing 24⁄7 to drown the mutts out, very funny and indeed effective… I’ll swear my cat has been humming Gilbert & Sullivan tunes since her last visit.
