I spent Ine night in this hotel because I was attending a communion party in its premises, the rooms were overbooked online and I managed to book calling directly to the hotel. The hotel is a mix of old and new, more to old than new. Our room didn’t have have a shower, so you could only turn on the bathtub tap. Food was average.

Check in by Unilocal and you will get breakfast and dinner along with your hotel for 52 Euro! Charming hotel with friendly staff. Quiet for being so close to the highway. Would be great for commuting into the city. Just a quick bus ride to city center. Something to think about if you are staying for business or do not want to stay in the city. There is not much near this hotel and you will have to go into Lucan if you want any kind of «scene,» which there is little of in Lucan. Oh, and a little to quiet at times. As I was walking up the stairs from breakfast alone, the pictures on the wall while interesting brought memories and visions of Jack Nicholson in «The Shinning.» Probably was quite the hotel in its hey day, though. The food was lovely and there were LARGE portions! Cheers!

Spent last night at a club Christmas party in this hotel. The meal was standard Christmas party fair and to be honest nothing to write home about. However, the entertainment more than made up for it. The band were excellent giving us renditions of all the cheesy performers we know and love complete with change of costumes. We were treated to Tom Jones, Joe Dolan, Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, and the finale was Elvis. I was dying of a hangover and have to take my hats off to the lead singer who belted out the numbers. There is something comforting watching people enjoying themselves, tettering on ridiculously high heels, protecting their dignity as they reefed their mini dresses down over their arses. Would I recommend it for a Christmas party… most definately, suits all ages, special offers on rooms for the night and the ballroom has had an overhaul so is now very pretty with fancy schmancy chandeliers and swaggy curtains. One drawback was the bar didn’t accept laser but reception were giving cash on laser so panic averted.

I like a good deal and at the moment the Spa Hotel is full of them. There is a weekday offer for something like € 20 for a 3 course meal with a free bottle of wine when 2 are dining. The early bird comes in under € 15 and at the weekend you can get 3 courses and your caffeine fix all for just € 25. But whats on the menu? Pretty much anything you could want. I had one of the finest cuts of steak I’ve had in a long time, cooked to perfection for me, medium-rare, but they will do it however you want(which is rare enough for an optional menu like this one) ample veggies and spuds. I had the ceasar salad to start, which was like a meal in itself, the dressing was a bit thick but overall tasted good. Fresh fruit pavalova for dessert. Yummy. No complaints from my fellow diners, so safe to say the soup and chowder went down well, steak well done was received with a smile, turkey and ham and beef were also met with yummy noises. I’ve been going to the Spa Hotel for years and it has recently had a make-over on the ballroom and upper carpark. Food here has always been it’s biggest attribute, along with the relaxed atmosphere and the lashing of history to do with the natural spa of years gone by. An all round thumbs up. After the N4 make-over you really have to be alert when heading west to stay in the left lane to make sure you don’t miss the turn for this one but the new set-up makes life much easier exiting the hotel. Handily, the bus stops right outside the Spa Hotel too on the way West, and its just a short walk to get to the bus into Dublin city if you are staying overnight.
