Really nice restaurant in Schull and well worth a visit(even if there is a lack of decent competition in the town). Authentic Spanish folk with warm welcomes & good selection of wines to go with a nice menu. All the food we tried was lovely & well presented.

Café Diego was so good that I left the restaurant and proposed to my girfriend ten minutes later. We arrived on the main street in Schull looking at many restaurant options. We saw some cool stuff, but stopped in a store for hats. We ended up talking to some holiday Dubliners who have been coming to Schull for years. They told us about Café Diego. We sauntered up the street and decided that was the place. The owner and staff are from Murcia, Spain. We had been to southern Spain last August and were swept away by the region. Sangria in guiness pint glasses gave us the giggles as we recognized the fusion of the two cultures. We over ordered but only because tapas restaurants that we know do not have these portion sizes. The gazpacho had a balanced blend of spices and was very tasty. We both agreed that the caesar salad with spanish ham and a unique dressing was perhaps the best we had tasted. Gambas al ajillo was pretty good, but the paella of the day that my fiancée ordered blew us away. Service was excellent and the ambiance of a quaint and comfortable café made for a pleasant lunchtime meal.
