Hush Brasserie

Just had a lovely mother’s day lunch at Hush. They were packed but squeezed us in for an hour as the table was booked. The place is small but full of character and it has a great ambience. The staff were friendly and the manager was really attentive. I got the burger my mom got the salmon. My burger was big and juicy and full of flavour. Mam said the salmon was cooked to perfection. We will be back!

Following the malahide festival a few weeks back, my friend and I decided we needed some food. We were quickly seated in this lovely brasserie. Nice atmosphere, people looked nice, it smelled good.
I had the chicken with mushroom sauce and mashed potato. They were really accommodating when I requested some changes to my dish, something that is important to me in a restaurant, as I always wonder why some refuse to do it.
The food was really, really good. I was so full. The wine was delicious, the waiter was funny and nice. We then went for dessert, and oh my god… it was so good.
Malahide festival was smaller than expected, but I got a good meal out of it.

In town for the Ireland v England one day cricket game, alas the Irish weather had other ideas. By 12:30 it was all over and we had a day to play with.
Back in the town we decided to treat ourselves to lunch and drown our sorrows with some nice wine. Cue Hush Brasserie in Malahide.
Met by the host /​manager, who was extremely pleasant and nice, we were shown to a table. We were so thankful he had the perfect table for three, a round table tucked away by a wall to the right
We enjoyed the set menu put on especially for the day by the management.
I opted for an old fashioned starter of Chicken & Mushroom vol-​au-​vent. Don’t see that on a menu anymore these days. It was very nice indeed, a blast from the past but it tasted much much nicer than I’d remembered.
For a main course I had the salmon, which was cooked perfectly and very nice. If I had to pick anything, I’d say the potatoe mash was the only let down as it was a bit sloppy.
My two dining companions enjoyed their food also.
The décor here is very nice and the facilities clean. The wait staff were as pleasant and nice as the host.
A very memorable unplanned experience here at hush.

One of my biggest pet peeves is restaurants that assume kids are only interested in burgers and chicken fingers (goujons). I was absolutely thrilled when the server here said the kids could have a half portion of any of the mains offered! For this alone I would have given this charming restaurant 5 stars but their selection and quality of dishes far exceeded my expectations.
The 2 course menu was offered all night. I started with the duck salad which was a beautiful fusion of Asian and french cuisines served up in a homemade fortune cookie. My husband was equally delighted with the age old standard mussels marinière.
For our entrées I had the sea bass while my husband enjoyed the filet. The kids had the salmon and my picky daughter tried a gruyère soufflé. Everyone was very pleased with their dinner. The kids have unanimously voted this as the best restaurant in Ireland.

This place is fine. Would I go running back? Not especially. The service is good with the servers making sure you’re ok. I ordered the beef cheek to start which was tender but REALLY salty. For the main I got the filet which was over done… It’s a nice small brasserie but with all the choices one has in Malahide… I don’t think I’d be back.

Hush is a serene but busy restaurant just across the street from Gibney’s in Malahide. It has a smart, elegant décor, with cream chairs against darker coloured tables. When you walk into this place it just screams classy, with the added touch of gigantic wine glasses on each table. There is a capacity of 40, which is probably why whenever I go it seems it is always crammed with people, so I’d advise to make a reservation or you may have to wait a while! The staff are really nice and the service is speedy. I like the early bird special, and I think that’s what’s most popular here; reasonable price, good selection of food, and decent portions! It’s an intimate meal, and with the candlelight it often looks very romantic! Adorable. I love this place.
