Oh how the mighty have fallen! The sushi us now sub par at best and the service… Oh my goodness. Forgetful and at times not the nicest. The best thing I’ve eaten there recently is the udon and I’m willing to bet my life that it is out of the packet. So depressed that my fave restaurant is now a place I wouldn’t go to unless they paid me to go. Also, they play the same cd over and over and over again. I guess because we’re regulars I noticed it. Now I want to cut the vocal chords of the cutesy sounding Japanese singer. Maybe that’s why it’s gone downhill…

Menupages were offering a great deal at Wasabi. Could I really consume € 30 worth of sushi??? Challenge accepted. Now of course, I need to lie down and digest while someone rubs my sushi-induced Buddha belly. Curse you, Wasabi! Lesson learned, next time, I will share my voucher. I was lucky enough to get a lovely cold sunny day to pop out to Malahide on the DART and have a wander around before the restaurant opened at noon. The sushi special was the dish for me, and it came with soup and salad, and to use up my voucher’s value, I also asked for a side of endamame and avocado sushi. The rice was amazing, warm and sticky and slightly sweet. The edamame was served warm too, sprinkled with rock salt, and served in a beautiful bamboo basket. Despite being scared of fish eggs, I tried some of the sushi rolls which appeared to be topped with little orange sprinkly eggs, and the rest non-sprinkled version of the selection was gorgeous. The staff are lovely, too. The waiter that looked after me didn’t have great English but was a total sweetie pie. I really wish Wasabi was closer to the city centre, what a great little place.
