Love it or hate it, if you come to Mallow, you’re probably going to end up at Chasers. It’s a bit dank, a bit sticky, but the music can be pretty great sometimes. The bar staff are grand, not a huge selection but you’ll find something. The door staff have never been tough for me to deal with but I’ve seen them be a bit high and mighty to others. Still, the crowd is generally alright so maybe they’re just doing their jobs. There are usually a few 18 – 23 year olds, and then mostly people in the late thirties upwards, which leads to a strange atmosphere. Big and warm smoking area out the back, with a hatch to the bar which is handy. Bathrooms are extremely small in the place and can be dodgy and unclean– the single standing sink in the ladies is usually covered in makeup spills and wads of wet toilet paper. There’s a shelf near the door that we all throw out jackets as there’s no cloakroom as such, and I’ve never had a jacket go missing. It’s free to get in, and that’s probably why we keep going back. I don’t hate it, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say I love it!
