I haven’t stayed here, I’m just reviewing the bar and restaurant. The bar I’ve been to on a couple of rugby match days and I’ve enjoyed it. Nothing particularly remarkable but all fine. I’ve been to the restaurant for lunch on a number of occasions. The food is a decent price but I’m always a little confused in here. There’s a canteen-style feel to the place and I’m never quite sure if it’s self serve or not, and the staff are sometimes preoccupied or nowhere to be found. Still, there isn’t a huge amount of places for a casual lunch in Mallow so it’s not bad for what it’s worth.

it’s been a few years since i was there, but i remember the hi-bee as the best lunch in mallow. pretty standard irish lunchtime fare – meats, potatoes, vegetables, simple salads, bread, tea, etc. – but hot and delicious on a cold day. i’ll give it two euro signs, but that is for the lunchtime food only. i’ve never stayed in it as a hotel and i’m not even sure if the kitchen is open for dinner.

Best place to stay in Mallow! I became well acquainted with the Hibernian Hotel a few years back on my travels through Ireland. Lovely staff throughout. Gorgeous hotel bar with live folk music, bought a CD from a local folk band, «Black Rose,» after hearing their lovely arrangements. Amazing amenities include a pool and fitness center. Walking distance to Mallow Castle, many pubs, and nature trails. Close to the train station without being«too close.» Oh, the Hibernian Hotel is also a few miles… oops I mean kilometers from the Cork Racecourse. Miss you folks dearly.
