It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the inside is a different story all together. Situated in a one horse town is Sheridans bar, restaurant and b&b. Entering on a cold rainy day when the wind makes you walk hunched over, the warmth of wood and granite walls inside here helped me defrost. The food here is basic, put meat on your bones type of affair. The type of food your Mammy would cook. I got the salmon, which was cooked just right and there was an over abundance of veggies, not to mentioned the mountain of mashed potatoes! Heaven. Dessert again was an Irish affair, apple pie with cream and a dollop of vanilla ice-cream. The presentation was wonderful, the pie was perfectly moist and the pastry was melt in your mouth good. The waitress was exceptional and so down to earth in her country manner that well; you can only get in the country. It is country that’s for sure. I love and sometimes loathe how country folk have no issues with asking questions that I honestly would never ask to an acquaintance… But that’s their charm, they just do a cheeky smile. ‘Why is a good lucking girl-ing like yourself single?‘ I just kept stuffing my mouth with apple pie, hoping that they would all stop looking at me and talking about me to me. ‘I know! Paddy there is single too! Aye he is too! Oh I’m grand thanks,’ blushing overcame me. ‘He’s a grand man, and has lots of land. He’s a big farmer, ain’t that right Paddy?! Aye,’ smiles Paddy as he eyes me up. If you can deal with the uninvited match making, then go. Seriously though it’s a grand spot.
