We enjoyed our dinner here, which was a good thing considering it is the only restaurant in town(unless you count the takeaway Chinese place, which looked closed anyway!) There is a formal dining room, but we were seated in the more casual section near the kitchen — our preference anyway since we were hot, tired and a bit disheveled from sightseeing all day. The room we were in felt a little like a roadside diner — passably clean, but worn. The food was an excellent value for the price, and there was a lot of it. I had roasted salmon with whipped potatoes and steamed vegetables: I’m generally not a fan of salmon, but I took one look at the plate that arrived at a nearby table and I was sold, especially on the enormous, colorful dish of green beans, broccoli and carrots drizzled with lemon-butter sauce. Everything was delicious, tender and flavorful. My friend had the vol-au-vent, a creamy chicken stew in a flaky pastry crust. It was incredible, tender chicken flavored with lots of black pepper. I don’t remember what our husbands ordered because it was out of the range of my fork, but they were happy and satisfied. We shared ice cream and trifle for dessert. Service was slow and a little awkward, though the servers were friendly enough. Is it poor form in Ireland to bring the bill before being specifically asked to do so? What about when the table has finished dessert and coffee and the restaurant is closing? After awhile we decided we needed to just ask, so we found someone and paid at the counter. We probably wouldn’t return to this area because it turned out there wasn’t a lot to see — it’s buried in the center of Ireland far from the coastal beauty for which the country is famous — but if we were passing through and hungry, I would definitely stop here again!

This is a great place for lunch. Ate here to today for lunch it’s always very good. The menu is simple but what they do they do very well. Prices are very good aswell with starter and deserts at € 4.50 and main courses € 12.95 or you can have all three for € 22 although with the portion sizes I’m not sure how you could :-). All main courses come with veg potatoe and chips which is great. I had the lamb which was very good and it came stuffed with gorgeous roast potatoes and gravy. The profiteroles are amazing here also for desert after that not really what I would eat. The turkey and ham is also very good!!! Staff are always very nice and seem to be all local kids from the area which is great to see a buisness looking after the area. It’s very busy with yours and buses also so I would arrive early or book to make sure you don’t have to wait I have never seen this spot quiet. I saw a marquee outside which I didn’t know they did for parties with a bar inside so it looks like a good set up also.

I stopped off here en route from Galway to Dublin this weekend. I can’t imagine I will ever return. The tables were filthy, the service was incredibly slow, the staff were unapologetic and pretty much everything felt substandard. Not really sure who this place would appeal to.
