The Ivy Cafe

Ah sure it’s «grand». That’s about all I have to say. If you are looking for somewhere to grab a coffee in the area, I think it’s pretty much your only choice. The coffee was pretty average — not bad, not amazing!
My Mam got herself a pain au chocolat — which she was upset to discover had been microwaved when they brought it out. I don’t get why places do this. Is it to pretend it’s freshly baked? Is it to disguise staleness? Who knows. Anyway the pastry had obviously been microwaved for quite a while. She said it was just gone gooey and horrible. she ate a bite and left the rest. She said it to staff and they replied «Oh, they must have left it in for too long», and gave her the bill, which included the offending uneaten pain au chocolat.
