Needed something more substantial than the usual lunchtime sandwich so popped in here having passed it a few days earlier and perused the menu outside. I fancied a pizza. Pity I didn’t read the sign or I would have realised it is a ‘regular’ restaurant during the day and metamorphoses into an Italian eatery — apparently under different management — after 5. Who knew? Peculiar business model. Anyway, quelling my pizza hunger — mostly because it was raining and I was here anyway — I ordered the laughingly described ‘Gourmet Burger’. I think what emerged from the kitchen was one of the worst burgers I’ve ever been subjected to. The meat patty was clearly of the bought-in frozen variety. It was tough and greasy and the ciabatta was either stale or also returned from a frozen state. The burger was topped with what I thought was red cabbage but turned out to be shredded red onion. I think. It looked and tasted vile. The fries were pretty good though. With a bottle of sparkling water the cost was € 11.75. I’ve had much better, and cheaper, from a burger van.
