I was at a seminar in the hotel beside midway which unfortunately didn’t provide lunch. Midway looks like a lovely clean place and is probably quite handy for people stopping off from a long journey. For this reason most likely all the eateries are either sandwiches, bagels or ciabattas which all come down to one thing: bread. I was disappointed as bread is not healthy no matter the fillings and I would have loved a more wholesale meal. The only other option was chicken and chips or pizza(more bread). I had a pulled ham ciabatta from O’Briens and this cost me the princely sum of € 5.95 and while the filings were tasty enough it was far more expensive than what I’d expect to pay for a sandwich.

«Stop, Revive, Survive.» That’s the super-creepy slogan that’s draped across the entrance of the Midway Food Court, just outside Portlaoise. I’ve fond memories of the place as the first place for post-Electric Picnic comedown food; but when you take off the festival-tinted glasses it’s a bit of a dump. Want to eat Subway in a carpark before getting back on the motorway? This place will fulfill your expectations and go not one inch further.
