I could play Portmarnock 300 more times and never see such great weather. You could say I got lucky today because it was 60 degrees and never rained. Wind never even really picked up either. Perfect scoring conditions. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant upstairs is first class. The nines are all wonderful. The yellow nine(not part of the Championship Course) is fun. Shorter than the red and blue but still challenging with fescue and gorse lying in wait for offline shots. The signature 15th hole is so difficult even without wind. Beautiful, challenging, and fun. € 193 gets you all 27 holes, € 10 meal credit, and a yardage book. 10/10, would go broke here again. P. S. I shot a 77!

There are two golf links courses in Portmarnock. This is the older one(1894). Some bigger tournaments have been played here including the Irish open. The course is beautiful to be sure– rolling hills and wetlands tied to the backdrop of palms and the sea– its really pretty remarkable. If you are not familiar with these types of courses(I was not) its easy to be fooled by the beauty because the course was tough-really tough! We had a caddy(no carts allowed) who shared a lot of great local history and stories of some of the pros that have played the course. Besides posting a score that most MLB pitchers fastballs can’t reach, this was a great morning. The people were nice, the setting was amazing and the course was challenging. You get a lunch with your greens fees. For me it was a once in a lifetime type of course but walking the fairways, looking at the sea, and having a good laugh made this a very memorable course and experience.
