We were settled down in the main part of Nenagh. Almost all the restaurants closed by 9 and we hadn’t had dinner yet so we found this place in what looked like the middle of no where only 20 mins away. We were a bit skeptic at first but once we entered the place it was cozy and comfy. The service was a bit slow but it looked like it was only 2 girls running the place at the moment so it was fine and plus they were nice. :) First entering, it was a bit dead but by the time we were leaving, the place was packed and the bar was full. I don’t know how late they stay open but by the time we left at 10:12 pm the place was still thriving with business so I assume they stay up later. The food was great and the menu was simple. Prices weren’t bad at all. I think the chowder(which was a good amount) was only about € 6.

Old style Pub in this tiny village of Garrykennedy nestled on the Shannon river. Excellent pub grub and good separate restaurant overlooking the beer garden with its brightly painted outdoor furniture. We were lucky enough to visit this charming pub recently while joining friends for a few days cruising on the Shannon. We really enjoyed our dinner of various dishes including, steak, burger, chicken pasta and a seafood dish, which were all pretty ordinary, but beautifully presented and served by really friendly and efficient staff. The place was buzzing with patrons of different nationalities and character, including weekend boaters! We enjoyed a few good drinks in the bar after dinner, including what I’m told was«a top class» pint of Guinness! The only negative was the overpowering smell of air freshener in and nearby the toilet area, in fact it was so strong that I felt it stung my nostrils. We all commented on it and I now regret that I didn’t bring it to the attention of staff. There was no need for air freshener of any description as the toilets all had windows as far as I could see and they were extremely clean.

A lovely warm fire greeted us as we came in from the cold… and it was flipping bitter out too. Proper brass monkeys. We made a beeline to the nearest table beside the fireplace — wonderful. Warmth of a real fire. We ordered some lunch from the nice staff. My partner enjoyed his vegetable soup. And my toasted special was grand, a little too much red onion, but easy to fix that. The cheese was proper melted, perfect! The side salad that came on the same plate was nice too. Inside the place is clean and not too cluttered, its seems to have hit the right balance of oldsie worldsie stuff. There was an ice cream counter just inside the door, which I imagine is quite busy in the summer. Proper scoopy ice cream at that, so is probably worth the queueing. Recommended. PS Great name Larkin ;)
