Hotel is clean and quiet. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Gym facilities and pool are both well laid out. For business stays it is great though the food in the hotel restaurant is rather hit and miss and all quite heavy. Also as it is a bit out of town you are limited for your dining options. This said — a nice glass of wine in the outdoor area looking over Sligo makes up for it!

We visited sligo at the weekend, specifically the Radisson Blu near Rosses Point. Our wedding anniversary is in a week and we had our wedding reception here 9 years ago! It used to be our tradition to go back on our anniversary but we haven’t been back since 2010. First impression of the hotel was that it hadn’t changed a bit! We booked through and got a great rate of € 75 B&B but when we checked in were told that If id called during the week in advance and said it was our anniversary they would have upgraded us but sadly couldn’t do it then as totally full(of families with millions of children as it transpired later — no romantic swim or hot tub visit for us!!) The room was grand, clean, sea view, same as 9 years ago! We ate lunch in the bar — shared great spicy wings and chunky chips, glass of prosecco and a beer and felt optimistic about dinner in the hotel restaurant later. So to dinner — the hotel, I might just mention, was extremely busy. Our table was placed in the middle of the walkway up the dining room which bugged me. The restaurant was full and there was a function on. After ordering we were given an amuse Bouche of mushroom consome. I don’t like mushrooms, at all. But I tasted it — and I liked it! That was the highlight of our meal. The lovely fresh bread was served in a horrible silver tray thing which let it down. I had butternut squash and some sort of forgettable cheese risotto for starter and it was so awful I couldn’t eat it. Totally overcooked, balls of mushy gloopy rice clumps. Really awful. Himself had soup. It was grand. Not exciting I had roast chicken, again, sounded so promising on the menu, was over done and just missed being lovley. Himself had venison in pistachio crust — just like mine, sounded great, looked great. But just missed the mark. Veg was served on a plate and overcooked and swimming in Butter — big no no for me. Dessert was lovely — well mine was, a spiced plum tart. His was slightly odd — a raspberry and white chocolate mousse but the mousse was coated in the white chocolate which had gone a bit strange looking! To be honest we found it funny and the wine we ordered(a Tempranillo at € 27) was lovely. We finished with 2 of the worst Irish coffees I have ever experienced and giggled our way back to the bar. I had heard great things About the new head chef but honestly, it appeared like he was really trying but not quite getting there. Perhaps the kitchen was just too busy and over stretched. However, we rang room Service at 9.30am the next day(how lazy!) and ordered breakfast. It arrived 30 minutes later — sizzling hot, freshly cooked, completely as we ordered for each plate and with extra goodies like croissants and raspberry jam on the tray. Will we go back? Absolutely. I think we need to give the restaurant another chance, and heck Id go back for the sea view and the gorgeous breakfast handed to me in bed!

My main issue with this Hotel is that they charge 5* prices for a 3* star experience. My 150 € room is what I would expect from the likes of Travel Lodge and almost has that ‘one size fits all’ layout that one has come to expect when staying in affordable accommodation. Its not all bad, the bacon and cabbage I got in the bar was actually quite lovely. The hotel is also clean and well maintained, but certainty nothing exciting from an aesthetic perspective and holds zero personality. If it was 99 € I would have given it 4 starts for value but at 150 a night 3 star is more than generous.

I have stayed here and held business meetings here. I have never had a bad experience here. I know parking is hard to find but parking extends all the way around the hotel and even extend to the road level in front of the the spa. If they car park is full they must be doing something right! Staff are always helpful and cannot do enough to make your stay or business meeting enjoyable. I have found the food to be of a good hotel standard and the business meeting catering top notch. Breakfast is buffet style and all you can eat. Very nice. Overall most Radisson’s are of a very high 4 star standard.

Myself and my partner stayed here for a relaxing weekend last year. We stayed over a weekend period and found parking difficult to find in the evening. Reception area was beautiful and checkin staff were very friendly. We booked a kingsize bed but got a double bed which was very soft and comfortable but not what was requested. The best part of the room was the en-suite bathroom. It contained heated tiles on the floor which was a lovely effect to entice comfort. The bathroom was a large size and was tastefully decorated. The bath was big enough for two. The room contained a mini bar which we avoided as it had a charge of 3.50 euro for a can of coke. A bottle of coke was cheaper in the bar. We found the food disappointing and our room service breakfast did not contain full order either of the two mornings of our stay. Overall the room was small but comfortable, clean and relaxing. If you do decide to stay here, my advise is to avoid the food and double check your bill on check out.
