Delicious place with hearty portions and nice atmosphere. The servers were prompt, and for the reasonable prices, the chicken salad and toasted sandwich were delicious. I highly recommend the toasted sandwich if you don’t mind onion. It comes with chips and a salad and is filling and well-priced. Worth a visit.

Great pub for pints and great bands on Saturday nights! Only giving 3 stars as the food is average: ordered the goats cheese wrap, it was the strongest goats cheese I’d ever tasted and when I went looking for the cheese to remove some, I realised it was a goats cheese spread… It still turns my stomach, won’t be eating there again!

Food tasted good, scones looked artisanal and the Step Inn was a great place to stop with our group that Sunday morning. We didn’t experience the Step Inn in the evening or as a pub but for brunch, they served lovely scrambled eggs in the sleepy village of Stepaside; considering the lack of competition around here, the Step Inn doesn’t have to make too much effort but they do. The breakfast/lunch menu was limited but good quality. I’ll come back and update my rating when I’ve tried more options!

I’ve been here a few years ago for their steak on a hot stone which was excellent. Since then they opened a Café in parts of the premises and that’s where I met with a friend. I had their prawn sandwich which was quite tasty. The prices were reasonable and it’s a lovely spot to sit and chat. They didn’t mind us at all sitting there for much longer than our food lasted. Only three stars today as I wasn’t 100% convinced by the sandwich.

What a pleasant surprise! We had just done a bucket of balls at the driving range and so had worked up an appetite. Me being the awkward coeliac I had to check the menu before we went in and I was delighted. The menu was littered with ‘C’ for coeliac, ‘V’ for vegetarian, but they should have included a ‘D’ for DELICIOUS!!! I got a detox juice — avocado, cucumber, pineapple and carrot — really tasty and well made. I would have never thought to get this here as its connected to a pub but again, pleasantly surprised. I went for the vegetarian falaffel which was great and my friend went for the crab claws. The only down side was that the menu didnt match the décor. It felt stuffy, old and worn not somewhere you imagine to have detox juices. Great little find and I will definitely be stopping in again.

booked in at the Stone Grill last night with 2 kids. Lovely staff, venue and service but food left a lot to be desired. Burger was tasteless and the kids meals looked like something ripped out of an Iceland box. must do better if i am to be tempted to return with kids. Maybe a bad luck or wrong menu choice but cant say. on the plus side, had some delicious craft beers

Step inn is a great spot for some nice unfussy food. The bar downstairs has something for everyone on the menu. We usually go for burgers or curry — your basic comfort food but I have to say its always consistent and of high quality and delicious. Prices are fair and atmosphere is comfortable. I have also enjoyed a few meals in the restaurant above and again same as above regarding good quality. The steaks are delicious and they have a small room for parties and kids if required. Staff are always attentive and friendly. Defiantly both options in the one building are a big plus and worth traveling too. They have byob options some nights I think too.

Myself and my husband booked a table in The Step Inn for last nite 22/12/2012, I had steak on the stone, mash, veg. My husband had duck on the stone, wedges and salad and 1 pint of gypsy weiss and 1 pint of belfast blond, starters were deep fried brie, fig and salad, garlic mushrooms, to say it was gorgeous would be an understatement it was fantastic. The staff were so attentive and looked after us so well, The cost of the meal with the drinks was 67euro 20 cent, so for value this the place to go, the Atmosphere was fantastic, the band was great and i would have no problem in recommending The Step Inn as the place to go for great food and a great night out

Still a favourite eating spot and has been for over twenty years. Good food and friendly service. Lots of time for families and nothing ever seems to be too much trouble.

I used to go here often when I lived in Dublin & still do when visiting, It’s about an hours walk to Bewleys hotel in Lepoardstown. we get a taxi there(approx 5 – 10 Euro) eat ourselves silly and then walk back. The staff are brilliant and food is excellent especially the Brie salad and the fillet steak, and also the chocolate pudding. prices used to be reasonable in comparison the the £ but its worth ever cent or penny! They have live bands, great food, great staff its just a great place. you can go and play pitch and putt across the road and then have a nice meal here. Brilliant.

I have to second what Kate said about the Step Inn. It is definitely a ‘match pub’. There’s a great atmosphere whenever a big rugby or soccer match is on and I have watched and shouted profanities at the tv many a time here. Unfortunately, any other time I’ve been here sans a rugby jersey, the atmosphere was gone. It’s big and quiet, the main problem being this. I can’t really imagne going out and staying out for the night here. They do a decent brekkie though. Excellent scrambled eggs.

The Step Inn is the local for a lot of my friends(they live around Rathfarnham and Stepaside) and the lads tend to gather here for any of the big soccer or rugby games and it’s the perfect pub for this kind of thing. All the girls can sit around nattering over their wine while the boys get stuck into the sport. Its family friendly, so you can expect kids running around every now and again but it’s a lovely, airy, bright bar and the food is really good. It’s fancy pub grub — like chicken burgers, steak, pasta etc. It’s also a really nice place to go for Sunday lunch and my sister raves about its breakfast! Only thing is that it is a little far out if you don’t live nearby, but if you wanted to go for a nice drive to Enniskerry or something, it would be a good place to stop for lunch.
