Barberstown Castle

Barberstown Castle has lovely grounds and beautiful rooms. There’s a tea room that serves lunch. The menu isn’t very impressive, but the portions are good. They have a pianist that plays during lunch and he is really excellent.
The reason I’ve marked them down so much was because they have such a good reputation the service we received on the last visit was unacceptable. The service was painfully slow. Over half an hour from order to food and the place wasn’t busy. My dessert was well presented, but had a hair on it. And finally the furniture is not the most comfortable. Some is too low to eat comfortably at.
All and all a place that could be amazing. Just needs a bit of attention to get it’s great reputation back.

I was here for my brothers wedding earlier this year. The place is 5 star all the way. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, the rooms are top notch, the staff are extremely attentive and friendly and the food is to die for.
I rank their steak as one of the, if not the best steak that I have ever had!
This place definitely deserves two thumbs up :-)

Was at a wedding here a few weeks ago and it was superb — on just about every level — if what we had was the usual standard of food then move over pretty much everyone else… it was excellent, taking into account that this was a wedding and they had to feed 80 people at once. wow, just wow.
The staff were smooth, organised and practiced, nothing was a hassle or a problem.
The venue itself and the grounds were well maintained and our room was spacious and perfect.
Overall, a great experience and one we would repeat in a heartbeat
The only downside is that they don’t sell cigarettes or Cigars anywhere on the grounds, so stock up before you arrive!!!
