The Ploughman Bar and Grill

Whilst the bar/​restaurant itself isn’t all that (bit tired and weather worn looking) I can’t complain about the food itself. They had a good daily specials list up and the prices were very keen. I got the steak on the stone for 12 euro. It came with rustic chops, skin still on and the usual sides. That’s a bargain anyway you look at it. It was only my second time getting staek this way and while a bit gimmicky, the ribeye provided was a decent cut of meat. Not a bad shout if you are in the area and peckish!

Great place! Excellent staff and great grub! This is our local and only a 10 min walk from this house. We honestly couldn’t praise this place enough. The staff are so friendly and attentive, they server a good pint of Guinness and the food is absolutely amazing. (The salmon and sweet potatoes fries are particularly yummy). The pub is split into two parts. We always frequent the the back part. The décor is lovely and it’s always spotless. We are so lucky this place is so close to our house, but even if it is wasn’t, we’d make it our business to cab or bus it here. They always have the latests matches too.

Food make u roll home. Burgers dripping wit sauces rustic chips vol au vonts drapped in mushroom sauce. Cold beers on tap very close and comfy for all the family. Live music most days staff are so good and helpful and u never really leave ur seat at all. Stuffed and fed and will deffo be back.

The bands they hav could be a little better a lot of the bands seem to be local lads good background music .
I keep mentioning the food cos it is great whopper portions. And always remember this is a local pub with a lot of locals in it so just be mindful of where u arw if u go here its not a place where you should go with a group of your mates and be loud and drunk and mess around its a place for a few pints to watch the math have a good feed and just enjoy your day.

I went here with a friend for new years eve. We decided to give this place a go as my friend had broken her arm and we wanted to stay local. First impression was good. The band was just ok. I guess I thought something better considering it was new years eve. The bar staff is what really let this place down. They look miserable. One girl looked like she completely hated her job and gave the impression not to even think about talking to her. Kept wiping around our glasses, which personally is annoying. Its not like we were spilling our pints! Another barman kept dropping dirty glasses off right by me, excusing me out of the way. He could have done that at the end of the bar. We were looking for bar stools the whole time. My friend went off to the toilet and while she was gone another barman came around from the bar with 3 bar stools and handed them to these 3 girls standing next to me that just arrived. It was REALLLY rude and unusual. We left straight away after. I had enough. I will never go back there and I have told all my friends and family to stay away! We went to the school house in swords which is always good craic!
Also I did contact a manager by email but noone bothered getting back in touch.

Great spot, really nice food and staff, and always have music or something on!

So an even further update:
They have gone Carvery and seem not to even prepare that onsite. It is a crying shame because they were excellent before and have managed to turn themselves into, «just another pub». I suppose the market spoke. I am just disappointed that it spoke to mediocrity.

This place used to be the Kinsealy Inn, which closed a while back. The new owners totally revamped the place, basically gutted it, and the interiors are very nice now. The bar is generally pretty busy with lots of locals, and only a few scumbags (I heard a lot of them have been barred, already). The lounge is lacking, primarily because it is lacking people. Every time I’ve been in there it’s been nearly empty. The staff have all been very nice, and have gone out of their way to accommodate us on several occasions.
