Cosy bar, friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff. Went here for an anniversary meal recently, food was amazing! Simple irish fare bursting with flavour. The stuffed mushrooms were splendid, had a mouthwatering stuffing on top. Black pudding salad to start was really good. Mains menu had something for meat or fish lovers. Steaks were perfectly cooked and went well with the delicious sides(veg, fries, mash, garlic potatoes). I opted for the hake which was really tasty. The chicken came with another delicious portion of stuffing /crumb topping and a yummy cream sauce. We didn’t get to try the desserts as we had anniversary cake but I’ve had dessert here before and I still remember fondly a summer pudding I had here one time… with generous portions of fruit and and a delectable crème anglaise it was pudding perfection! The portions are hugely generous, so go hungry and you won’t be disappointed. Best bar food I’ve ever had! The bar itself is a hidden gem nestled amongst the hills of upperchurch. It has welcoming bar staff and friendly regulars. Catch it on a quiet night and you can have a nice cosy drink… catch it on a busy one and you might find yourself getting caught up in a singsong with the locals or enjoying an impromptu trad session. I would definitely go back… and recommend it highly to friends and family.
