Stopped off here for a quick lunch before heading up to Fermanagh with Brian — cute little café which has a big outdoor terrace and upstairs seating area too. Big variety of lunch items — sandwiches, salads and bigger hot plates such as calamari and chips, pan fried salmon etc. We ordered meaty sandwiches(before our vegetarian retreat lol) and they were made fresh, tasty and sizeable! Brian mentioned the coffee was great — I couldn’t have any as they have no lactose free milk(soy or otherwise) but the herbal tea was lovely too!

Butterfly Garden has a lovely atmosphere on arrival, however not child friendly if you bring in small children in a buggy, other than the limited seating downstairs its verylimited especially if outxoors is of limits, which would have the same issue for a person wheelchair bound or someone elderly. meno ok… quality of meat I did question in a bolonaise… locally supplied I was told… perhaps they should change their supplier… which by the way no list available o menu of their suppliers… staff friendly, premises appear to be clean.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in Kells and recently this amazing little gem has popped up. From the outside it looks small, and I was concerned it wouldn’t have enough seating space, but do not be fooled! There is a beautiful outdoor seating area that’s been really well landscaped and put together. Lots to look at while you wait for your coffee. There is also a lovely bright converted upstairs with lots of seating and some comfortable sofas to boot. I really love the décor here. It’s country style, but fresh and clean. It’s a pleasure to dine here. Their menu has a really good selection of eats from sandwiches to full cooked lasagnas, you won’t be left wanting. I decided to go with the Tuna Melt. Other members of my party also opted for sandwiches, the club sandwich looking particularly lovely. While I enjoyed my tuna melt, I was expecting a little better. The melt looked great on the plate(see attached picture) but looked more like mini pizzas to me. I think next time I’ll be sure to ask for it as a sandwich instead. The club sandwich looked fantastic and the portions are excellent value for money. It would be a really great rival spot to the nearby Bective for evening food. I can only imagine their upstairs looking super romantic with candles and fairy lights. Why should you dine here? Support local businesses! The food is excellent value, the surroundings are wonderful and the staff are absolutely lovely. I’m looking forward to giving this place another try very very soon.
