I visited Dante’s shortly after it opened late last year. According to their facebook page, they are currently closed because of a dispute with the landlord or previous tenants. The place itself is a very modern bar with some of the best pub food I have ever had. There is also a full restaurant upstairs which by all accounts is excellent. The only downside, and for me it is a big one, is the beer selection. There is none to speak of. The only beer available was the same crap selection in every Irish pub. To me a Gastropub should marry beer and food together in harmony. Beer should not only be recommended to accompany certain dishes but more importantly beer should be a prime ingredient in their creation. Having only the usual taps from the large mega breweries you can get in the pub across the street means there is no reason for a serious beer aficionado to set foot here for the beer. The food makes up for it however. If they get opened up again then it is a great place to go in Tralee.
