Having spent time in the metropolis that is Rome and Florence it is nice to getaway from it all. I like to get to the country whenever possible. It is where one best experiences a culture and people and customs. You will find no better example of Southern Italian(Ciociaro specifically) than at Il Ciclope in Arpino. This gem is tucked away in the hills of Cicero’s birthplace. Yes, that Cicero. With rolling hills filled with Olive trees… you are not in the city. No. You are where you should be. The rooms are spacious. There is A/C and heating in each room and each room is furnished nicely. There is a TV ensuite. The view from the terrace is incredible. You can look down and see a working farm and Olive trees far into the the distance. The meals are all home cooked and the hosts are incredibly gracious and warm. English is spoken. I let them pick the meals — I’m adventurous that way. The meals did not disappoint.
