Starhotels Excelsior

We stayed here during the last week of Octover 2014.
The location of the hotel is across the street from Bologna Central Station, so there was no need to hail a cab. Its alo near the main drag (Via dell’ Indipendenza) where many shops are located, leading to the old city.
The staff is very friendly and helpful (also easy on the eyes as well) as they explained the hotel’s amenities and the surrounding attractions.
The décor of the place is modern/​mid century modern; which should appeal to a large mass. It’s tasteful, yet subtle.
Our room was fairly large for European standards (included A/​C) with a comfortable King Size bed and Queen size pullout sofa should I be sent to the doghouse. And yes both were comfortable.
The room also came with the buffet and believe me; I would pay the 15 euros for that buffet if I had to if it were not included. They had all types of cold cuts (prosciutto) and freshly baked breads along with eggs, sauteed veggies, potatoes, wurstel, bacon, pancetta, fruit, juices, etc…
Bologna is a pretty city with great food and people and this hotel made our stay here much more special.

Located right near the train station, about a 15 minute walk to the center of town. Clean, well appointed hotel. Nice sized room and bathroom compared to the typically cramped European hotel. Good wifi. Pleasant hotel staff.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. Situated right beside the train station and close to the City centre I would highly recommend it. Got a great deal on
. Only downside is you have to pay for parking, approx 20 € a night.
