Stopped by randomly for a late lunch and was very impressed. My wife had the lasagna(lasagna verdure) with vegetables. It was great! This will revolutionize my homemade lasagna ideas. I had to try to the pasta alla Norma – the signature dish of Sicily. I was impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and with how HOT the food was. I burned my mouth several times throughout the course of eating. We both had wines – I had a glass of red and she had a glass of white. Total for 2 dishes and wines was 20 €. Not bad! I definitely recommend stopping in!

Come here for the nice, shady dining area more than anything else. It took quite a bit of time to get our drinks. This was frustrating considering other tables(of locals who were seated after us) were served promptly. There wasn’t a food option while we were there, but I understand they source food locally and change their menu by the day. That could be fun to see. We ordered wines and a big beer(Baladin Super) but the menu didn’t specify the type of Super, so we ended up with a bitter instead of sour. I liked it enough, but no one else in the group did, unfortunately. I needed to use the restroom and they were completely out of toilet paper. I walked up to the bar and asked for some, and they said it was a «known issue» and pointed at some napkins. Like, fancy table napkins. Interesting. All in all, this was a pretty odd visit and I probably would try a bar elsewhere if I stopped into Catania in the future.

This ended up being our favourite café to go to for morning/midday/afternoon brioche, granité and Americanos. The waitress spoke good English(for Scicilien standards) and she remembered our order after the very first visit. She made jokes and had that undefinable good humour that makes you remeber your server. This is good service in my book. The served lunch and from looking at the menu and other dining costumors, it seemed to be very deliscious. We didn’t eat there ourselves and I’m kicking myself a little bit for it now. Prices were very reasonable and this place was so inviting, cosy and authentic looking. We enjoyed our time there immensely.

Walking around Catania with some friends, we decide to randomly find a place to grab a beer and some Appetizers. Wine Bar Razmataz was our first stop. So language barrier is one of the hardest obstacles to overcome when you visit another country and without my handy dandy translator on my phone due to no service doesn’t help. The Waiter spoke a little English which was great and showed us a table outside to be seated. We asked for a menu and he pointed on the wall outside the restaurant and walked away. About 10 minutes later he comes back and begins to take our drink orders and we all get a beer. 10 freaking minutes! mind you, it wasn’t busy at all. Thinking back at it, I believe all the places I have eaten at have taken the same amount of time to order so I have no reason not to make it lower than 4 stars and you just have to get use the culture. 1 minute later, our beers are at our tables and he walks away. 20 minutes later, he then comes back to our table to get our orders. The menu on the wall did not help at all and we did not understand anything that was on it haha so we just pointed(pointing in Sicily is bad) at the table next to us and asked if we could have the same thing they were having, which was pretty much a «sampler» of their appetizers. 5 minutes later, our sampler was at our table. mmmmm Not sure what I was eating but it was amazing! I will describe it to the best of my knowledge though. the easiest one I could recognize was a square slice of pizza. Nothing out of the normal. Pizza was average. Next was the bruschetta which is a bread topped with tomatoes and seasonings. Bruschetta was delicious. Next was a quiche looking item with possibly cheese in the middle. Awesome taste! I wanted to order more but we were running out of time to sightsee. Next was a ball of cheese with a toothpick in the middle. Mama Mia!!! best cheese I had that night!
