On a trip to Italy, specifically near Cantanzaro, I checked Unilocal to see if there was any place near where we were staying that sounded like a good place to eat. I found one Unilocal review(Ferdinando G’s), but a really good one, on Antonio Abruzzino’s restaurant. And it was literally a 3 minute walk from where we were staying. Best meal we had in all of Italy(and we traveled from Venice to Florence to Rome to the Southern Tip). We chose something called(roughly speaking) the Chef’s Choice. It was excellent. I wish I could describe it now, but it’s been a couple of weeks. Let it be said that the meal came in a number of courses, each one as good or better than the previous one. The service was exemplary and the chef himself was very involved in the serving and making sure that everything was running smoothly. Run, don’t walk, to Antonio Abruzzino. I assure you, you will not regret it.

Just happened to spot this restaurant on the Michelin guide and decided to check it out. At first is was a bit difficult to find, actually not difficult but«different» as it seems to enter someone home rather than a restaurant, and that warm welcoming feeling is what follows you throughout the meal. Even if elegant does not make you feeling uncomfortable, the menu changes often and they try always to serve seasonal food. The style of the dishes is local Italian/Calabrese but never obvious, they really try to start from great ingredients and a sound culinary culture to move forward a make the difference. The tuna appetizer, the pasta with anduia and sea urchins, and the gelato di pane are just amazing. Last but not least the price is affordable and the quality/price ratio is great.
