The best meal I’ve had(so far) in Tuscany. It’s situated in a rustic wine cellar setting where the wines of Cortona are displayed. The owner, Mr. Romano is quite a character and was very helpful. He gave everyone a little appetizer and then afterwards some homemade grappa. Everything is fresh, and the food didn’t disappoint. Prices are reasonable. I had a first and second course, wine, dessert(tiramisu which was made within the past 2 hours) and an espresso for about 34 euros. At 1.10 dollar per euro, not a bad deal. That was for lunch, but I was there til 3:30 so I didn’t eat dinner that day. Well worth it.

Overpriced + Overhyped Food — solid 4⁄5 Service — very good 4.5÷5 Only dishes I would re-order are the wild boar tartare and pici. #1 restaurant on tripadvisor w/2000+ reviews, surprising. Food was good, not amazing. Prices were very high compared to everywhere else Ive gone on this 10 day trip. The wild boar tartare was the highlight and came served on what I can only describe as a coke mirror. Never eaten raw pig before and I have eaten some crazy stuff. The primi was mixed — our pici was very very good. The beef stuffed small ravioli with truffle was forgettable though not terrible. Almost no taste of beef, even considering the less flavorful beef in europe compared to america. They should have been more generous with the truffle especially considering the price. I have gotten more generous toppings of truffle at much less expensive places. For secondi I cant remember what we got, which should be telling considering we were there 3 nights ago. I remember getting a grilled beef secondi that was good, but again I much prefer American beef. The dolci was nice. 3.5 stars if I could, but I cant so 3 stars.

one of the best meals and experiences I”ve had in my life. Mr. Romano and his family took great care of us. Highly recommend the antipasto and«big» ravioli. All of the beef dishes were great as well. Mr. Romano gave our group complimentary shots of grappa to finish things off — can’t recommend this place enough.

We have been here for lunch as well as dinner and can’t wait to go back. Both times were fabulous… impeccable quality of food and execution, stellar service with personal attention from the owner who is very generous. Its nestled into a beautiful ancient building with a vintage olive oil press in the lobby which brings me to their homemade olive oil is one of the best I’ve ever had. Well done sir!

This popular Cortona restaurant may well be worthwhile if it is not busy, but tonight when the«congress» arrived(as we were told), we were treated rudely. We made a reservation through an Italian friend last evening for 8:30 for the two of us. We are in Italy celebrating our honeymoon. We arrived at 8:15 to confusion and were told repeatedly that our reservation was at 7:45. However, they seated us quickly and things went smoothly until the guy in charge started entertaining the other tables. He was very loud and repeatedly turned the music up very loudly and made loud jokes. He was an utter buffoon who was incredibly annoying. We could not hold a conversation. He was like a clown trying to make jokes for everyone. Once a crowd started forming waiting to get tables, the trouble started. They were all Italian. Although we do not speak Italian, we can tell when someone is making fun of us and he used the word, «American» before the crowd roared with laughter and many of them looked directly at us. He was openly ridiculing us in front of the groups of Italians waiting for tables to keep them amused and entertained. Aside from the rude behavior, the food was at best OK. Nothing to get excited about. I have been to Italy about 6 or so times for two weeks each time and eaten in many of the most renown places all over the country, so I do know what good Italian food and service are all about. This was what I would expect from some South Philly family restaurant where the local village idiot gets put in charge of things for the night. One serious technical fault of note. We had their multiple course«Michelin Dinner», but after each course they took the used knifes and forks from our plates and put them back on the table to be re-used. It is unbelievable that this place has any recognition from Michelin.
