The city of Cremona does not boast an abundance of great hotels and since I find myself here on a far to frequent basis I have soon tried most of the hotels in town. Many of the ‘independent’ hotels are actually run by the same owner and therefore have many of the same annoying features(poor breakfast, unreliable internet, no or little parking, too high rates vs quality) so I often end up staying at the Ibis. The hotel is on the edge of the city center so convenient if arriving by car(if driving from Milan use the second exit for Cremona) perhaps a bit less so if arriving by train(then the Hotel Continental is perhaps a better option). The Ibis is not stylish(look at the pictures) and more resembles something left over from a holiday resort from the 80s so do not expect a design hotel. The hotel does however offer good parking facilities and service is friendly(they also speak English). The internet is free and reliable. Rates are often pretty decent(expect to pay from € 35 – 50 for a night, often including breakfast). The breakfast is basic so not very good(but that is often the case at least in Cremona). The rooms have the basic things one needs so desk, tv, free wifi and a very comfortable bed(I always sleep great here). They do however lack a gym so if exercise is your thing the best option is to go for a run. The onsite restaurant is not very good but plenty of options around but if you arrive late it can be good to know that they serve food 24⁄7.
