Great view, but average food and service, basically no wifi unless you sign up for a library membership.

You will not find an air conditioned bar with better prices and a better view in Florence! Located on the top floor of the Bilblioteca Oblate(Library), kitty-corner from the entrance, you will find this small caffetteria with cheap drinks and snacks. Catering to the many students hanging around outside, you pay a little more to sit inside, but it is well worth it. We had a caffé macchiato, bottle of water, and a peach iced tea, coming to just € 4.50, the price of a tea at most places with a view like this. The inside is simple with Formica-topped tables, colorful 80s-style chairs, and a wooden plank floor, but the view of the Duomo’s dome is imposing and spectacular. A great place to rest and have an inexpensive snack after a day of walking around Florence … CombatCritic Gives Caffetteria delle Oblate 9 Bombs Out Of 10 … More Bombs Are Better!

Caffetteria Delle Oblate is not really a «best kept secret» or gem. Thanks to many online«10 things to do «lists, travel websites, etc. essentially every tourist with access to internet has heard about this place. During your visit, you may even find yourself in the company of a large group of quite noisy students touring the city with their school. That being said, the view of the Duomo and rooftops is quite phenomenal and it is a nice feeling to be in a café in the area where you are not charged an arm and a leg for a cup of cappuccino. The food, pastries, etc. are nothing to write home about, but then again this is not why you climbed all those steps to the roof of the library.

I have been coming to the Caffetteria delle Oblate for ages and I am sure I will keep returning for as long as I am here in Firenze. It has one of the best views of the Duomo. The coffee is great and they don’t charge table service so what’s not to like. Well a few things, such as it gets quite noisy in here pretty easily between the espresso machine, plates and cups banging, loud people and the music sometimes is up a little too loud, in my opinion. That being said they do play good music such as jazz and Bob Marley, so I can’t complain too much there. Also their Wifi is soo slow(or just doesn’t work at all), so that is a real bummer. I have been to one of their evening aperitivo’s and it wasn’t too bad. This is usually the place I bring friends who are visiting from out of town, to get their first morning cappuccino ;-) no complaints yet.

Love this place! A cute little café hidden on the top floor of a library. They have delicious pastries and one of the best cappuccinos I have ever had. Extremely well priced. 2.30 € for a coffee and pastry. There is indoor and outdoor seating with great rooftop views. From inside the café there is a great view of the Duomo. Highly recommend this place and can’t wait to go back myself.

View… check! Lots of outdoor seating… check! Caffe…check! Aperitivo…check!(Starts ~18:30) I met a friend here to chat and this made the perfect local. There is wifi, but you have to register with the library first to get your ID. No big deal and once you have it, you’re good to go. Wifi or not, great chill place to read a book or chat with friends with a great view.

Florence’s secret gem This place is one of those secrets you really want to share but also kinda wanna keep under wraps. Why? Because it’s awesome! On top of the famous library(which has wifi) this cafeteria offers one of a kind views aka — Brunelleschi’s Duomo and they gasp* don’t overcharge even though they could. They also offer aperitivo after 6pm and I highly recommend visiting when they have one of their ethnic-themed nights. Prices are very affordable and they do offer lunch. Like other reviews mentioned, it is a small caffe so there is no table service but once you see the view, you’ll get over that. I come here all of the time and it’s one of those places that remind me why I want to live in this city. I personally love going with a friend and getting a cold corona and just catching up. Also if you live here and someone is visiting, take them here! Check out their website for events(they periodically have live-music, movies) .

Forget paying € 10 to sit outside drinking mediocre coffee just for the view of Brunelleschi’s stunning Duomo. This local café is situated on prime real estate, just far enough off the beaten path to make you think you’ve stumbled upon Florence’s secret garden. Tucked inside a local library, take the elevator to the top floor where the café is located, grab a drink and a seat outside and be prepared to kick yourself for not realizing that you’ve probably walked by this place a dozen times and never knew it existed. Pros: Budget-friendly(€ 1 – 2 for coffee, water, juice/€ 4 – 5 for bottled beer) THEVIEW. Courtside seats for the sunset viewing of the Duomo? Yes please! The vibe – think of that coffee house you used to frequent in college, and then add in some awesome Italian architecture and a few university students buried in their books. Cons: It’s a small café, so don’t expect fast-food service. You’ll get what you order soon enough, and you should be enjoying the view anyways.
