Out of all of the places we stayed in Italy… this was by far our favorite of them all. It’s a small bed and breakfast with only three rooms ran by Guido and his wife. This place is within walking distance to a ton of the local touristy attractions around town as well as restaurants, museums and shopping. As soon as we arrived, we were not only greeted with a warm smile and a firm handshake, the owner made sure to share all of the amenities of his small operation while giving us the lowdown on some of the top places to see in the city. We already had an itinerary, so he gave us some pointers on how to avoid lines and how to see the most of the spots in a short amount of time. The room we were in was what he called the«American room» because he had is stocked with maps, tour books, sight seeing guides and more… all in English. Super helpful. The room itself was spotless and I loved how unique it was. This particular room not only had stained glass for the bathroom, but it had a hand painted painting above the ceiling in true Italian tradition. The room overlooked the garden area and it was quite nice to have the windows open while you slept or enjoyed breakfast. For food in the morning, I thought it was going to be a small continental, but a huge tray full of pastries, fruits, yogurts, omelets and our choice of coffee beverage were presented to us. You got to enjoy it in the comforts of your room, which I liked. When you were done you just pushed it back out the door. Super easy. Wifi is complimentary, beds are comfortable — but like a lot of buildings in Italy, you have to walk up to your desired floor. From what we could tell, there was no lift — so make sure you’re okay with trekking up and down stairs to your room. For us — it was totally worth it and I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else while in Florence!
