Super knowledgable and friendly sommelier. Great desserts. Stop here if you want to know more about and experience wines of Tuscany and Italy!

My family and I just had dinner tonight at this place and had the best time. So far this is my favorite place in Florence. It is hard to pick what to eat from the menu as everything sounds delicious. We ordered several plates to share and the very best was the«crostini misti»(mix of crostinies). The waitresses are very nice and the service is superb. Reservation is needed as the place is usually completely booked.

I wanted to try this spot all week, finally found it. I asked for reservations for dinner, but the response was come back at 6:00 to see if there is an opening.?? We decided to try the lunch, the reviews seemed pretty good. We both ordered starters of crostinis, mine was not what I ordered but it was good. Had anchovies, pepper jelly on a soft cheese. My husband had a sausage cheese mix, very tasty. We both ordered salads, they were both very good. Mine had smoked salmon, capers and really nice mix of lettuces, my husbands had prosciutto and hard cheese on nice lettuces. The food we had was very good. Service was awkward, and slow, though they were all friendly. Tables that came after us had been served way before us, maybe they misplaced our order? When we first arrived a table of four got up and left. They seemed overwhelmed.

This place was awesome, one of my favorites on this Italy trip. Came across it as a recommendation from a sales rep at the Panerai boutique. It can get crowded so booking a reservation is probably a good idea. For dishes, I’d highly recommend(1) Croton with brie, almond, and honey and(2) pear and cheese ravioli. Both were among my favorite dishes of all the Italian restaurants that I’ve tried so far.

I went to so many locations for lunch, dinner, apertivos, as well as a nightcap when I was in Italy, but amongst all of them I loved this place the most. Why? It’s not just one unique point that makes them stand out, but more of an overall greatness. We first popped in here for an end-of-night glass of wine, and upon perusing the menu decided we needed to come back for dinner the next day — damn were we glad! We made a reservation while we were there for 10pm(when in Florence, do like the Florentine do!) and the next day we rolled in and gorged ourselves, haha. The cuisine here is not your traditional Italian fare, but instead fresh new takes on old classics. Amazing. The pistachio-caramelized onion sauce they made was ridiculously good, as were all of the meats. They specialize in pasta, so be sure to get a couple plates of these — you will not regret it. THEWINES though! Such an awesome wine list, and from a NYC-area perspective SOCHEAP. We spent around EUR100 on wine and drank what would’ve been USD$ 500 here. So happy with that, haha. Not only was the food, the wine, and the ambiance excellent, but what really ties it together is the service. Always attentive, and eminently helpful. The manager even sat with us for a little while and discussed the differences in terrior between Italy and American wines. I was blown away. I *will* return to this restaurant the next time I’m in town.

We only had a bottle of wine from this place. However, it was an amazing experience. The atmosphere is great. The waiters are very busy but they get the job done. My friend and I wanted to try an authentic florentine wine and we got a great recommendation. It had a great taste and ended up being exactly what we wanted. Very friendly staff who are willing to help out customers.

In a city full of great food this was at the top! The freshness of the ingredients, the wonderful salads and dishes offered and the attention to detail were superb. The décor was simple and lovely and Icing on the cake was the truly committed and attentive staff. They recommended an excellent wine and it made for our favorite night in Florence! Don’t miss this gem.

Had an amazing dinner here in Firenze. We were recommended by our concierge(i know, i know but was told it was her personal favorite). The owner Nicholas took amazing care of us– which was no small effort considering how busy this place was. We started with a delish cheese & salami selection and a chef’s mix of crostini– all were so different yet all so so tasty. Next came the tagliatelle with guinea and walnut pesto — so unique and delightful as well as the braised beef cheeks(O.M.G. So good). A taste of the homemade burrata stuffed ravioli with pistachio pesto was brought to us — and we are so glad it was; completely amazing. Expect to have a lengthy(need more front of the house staff) and very enjoyable dinner. Just go!

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who had it in turn recommended from a friend. I would like to continue this virtuous cycle by passing on this recommendation to you all. This was easily our best meal in Florence, hands down. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and lively. Our hotel called a head and made a reservation for us for the same evening(I think if you eat on the early, side(i.e. before 830 you’ll be OK without one… but I also think you can make a reservation online, so do it just to be safe)). We had a delicious plate of assorted crostini; cheese and pear ravioli; beef tartar with asparagus; pork chop with potatoes; and a delicious bottle of Chianti… oh and some grappa for ‘dessert’. Our waiter was friendly; the other patrons were fun and chatty(we met a British couple celebrating their 53rd(!) wedding anniversary, who had received the restaurant tip from a local bookshop)); and it was a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend!

The pear ravioli was exceptional(definitely as good as everyone on Unilocal is raving about), my wife had the Tagliatelle with Ragu and it was exceptional as well, the staff was very helpful at picking wine, they helped us pick a great one that paired very well with our meal. This was the best meal we had on our two week trip through Italy. When you go(in true Italian fashion), expect to have a 2 – 3 hour dinner experience, the service here as in most of Italy is at a very leisurely pace. It was really hard to find this place and we walked by it 3 times before we actually found it. I found it was best to put the directions in my phone and when I arrived at the place, stop and just look very carefully at all of the buildings, it really doesn’t stand out. Reservations are super helpful, but if you don’t have one, show up 5 minutes before it opens which is at like 6:30pm.

I came here for their famous ravioli con formaggio e pera(ravioli with cheese and pear) and it did not disappoint. Absolutely beautiful with a glass of white wine. The handmade pasta and sweetness of the filling is a perfect entrée before a heartier main. I’ve been so inspired by this place that I plan on making the pear ravioli at home soon! Reasonably priced, nice location(near the Duomo), and lovely ambiance. I will definitely return next time I visit Florence!

This restaurant was recommended to me by a Florence native who used to eat here about 2 years ago. I think it has seen better days. I had a good meal of the pear ravioli, but it took about an hour and 15 minutes to get to me, including the time it took to be seated. There were only 2.5 waiters for a room of about a hundred people. I say .5 because one of them was the maitre’d who seemed to be wildly overtasked with tending the front desk and giving his friends free wine. My experience might have been better if I had been with a group and could have enjoyed the essence of slow food with multiple courses.

My family and I visited Coquinarius on a Sunday night at around 7. We had walked by earlier in the day and found the menu so appealing that we made a reservation on the spot. When we came back later at 7, the restaurant was empty, but we were hungry! That night, we just couldn’t hold out until the typical dinner time in Florence(closer to 9). The waitress greeted us very warmly and spoke great English. She also did not judge when we decided to forgo wine and each only got a primi(no secondi). Very much appreciated that. On to the food. There were so many interesting pastas that appealed to us on the menu it was hard to settle on just four things! We started with a crostini appetizer(crostini misto). It came with six types of crostini — chicken liver, mackerel and orange, avocado, sundried tomato and feta, sausage and melted cheese, and mascarpone(or something similar) and fig jam. It was nice to sample all of them but I had definite favorites and fails. The sundried tomato and feta, sausage and melted cheese, and mascarpone and fig jam were my favorite. The mackerel was downright strange — at least for me! The rest of the table was not as put off as I was. Next came the pastas! I would recommend every one of them, but I will list them below in rank order, from sinfully delicious to just good. 1) Tagliatelle with pancetta and rabbit ragu on a bed of pumpkin cream(tagliatelle rustiche al ragu bianco di coniglio, bacon e crema di zucca) — a mouthful! Pun intended :-D This was my favorite — make sure you get a bite with the pasta, pancetta, rabbit, and pumpkin. Very rich and balanced. 2) Cheese and pear raviolini, which looked like tortellini to me(raviolini ripieni di formaggio e pere) — a sweet dish, but good if you like sweeter pastas! 3). Ravioli with pistachio and pesto(raviolotti di burrata con crema di chipotle e pesto di pistacchi) — also on the sweeter side so be prepared! 4) Spaghetti with artichokes(spaghetti alla chittara alla carbonara vegetariana di carciofi) — perfect for vegetarians. Very hearty and well flavored, but I wouldn’t write home about it like I would about the rabbit ragu pasta. Bottom line — the rabbit ragu was a five star dish for me while the others were closer to 3.5 — 4. Portions were reasonably sized. I was full, but not uncomfortably so, after an appetizer and four pastas split between four people. It also helped that our waitress brought us bread, oil and balsamic vinegar. Cost was also reasonable — 69 euros for everything mentioned above. Also note that they have a 2 euro service charge per person. I think Tripadvisor lists this place at three or four euro signs but that seems a little high based on my experience. Maybe with wine and multiple courses. Ambience was nice– It was dimly lit inside with relaxing music playing inside. Also quiet, though that may have been because we were having dinner a good hour and a half before most Italian grandmas start their dinners :) All in all, I would highly recommend Coquinarius for its pastas and atmosphere!

I really liked this place. Despite what other people have written, I loved it. The food was good and this is where I found my new favorite wine. My husband and I went during the day and after lunch so it wasn’t crowded. Was the staff disinterested in us? Oh yah for sure! They all looked like they wish they were anywhere but there, but whatever. I work at a museum in Chicago so I feel their pain. All I could think about was that bottle of wine and my pear crostini. I suggest going. People need to stop getting offended when something idiotic doesn’t go their way like the waitress not smiling. You’re in a touristy city, so just deal with it

Trendy restaurant that was recommended to us by a friend during her visit to florence last year. I thought the rabbit paparadelle was good, it was my first time trying it. I can’t say I enjoyed the bruschetta with chicken liver, I think it’s a signature dish but I didn’t like it. Atmosphere is good, mix of older families and couples. The manager spoke to us on and off and seemed very friendly.

Yum! After a walking tour, our guide recommended this spot for lunch. Everything was fantastic! A group of 4 of us split an antipasta platter and I enjoyed an amazing plate of Carpaccio while my friends had a Faro Salad and a Pasta dish. Every single plate was licked clean before we left.

Terrible experience! It was a little too easy to get a reservation, and now I know why. This place was incredibly touristy(as many things in Florence are) but seemed to also cater to tourists’ ideas of what Italian food is supposed to be. Not good. The first table we were seated at was broken. As it was quite far from where my chair was, I went to scoot the table in a bit and, lo and behold, the broken leg reveals itself, much to my surprise, as the entire contents of the table slide to the floor with an alarming crash. Not a great way to start the evening. It could’ve easily been salvaged, however, with good food and good service. Sadly, we had none of that. The menu was uninspiring, but, even had I been inspired, after we moved tables and got some wine(that took about 15 minutes), it was a good 30 minutes before anyone made any effort to come over to see if we needed anything. And this, of course, is after the trauma of the first table! By that time, we had decided to finish our wine, cut our losses, and go eat somewhere else. There’s a lot of great food in Florence. Don’t waste your time here.

No, no, no, no, no! My friend and I set out on a two week foodie adventure to Italy and Paris, and we were very excited to kick things off at Coquinarius, which was highly, highly recommended by my friend’s friend. Ohhhhhh, what a shaaaameeee to have wasted a dinner at Coquinarius! The place itself is charming. It’s near the hustle and bustle of town, close to the Duomo and other neighborhood eats. A lot of Unilocalers have complained about the service here, but we actually had no problems with the service. In fact, our waitress was very pleasant, and made sure that we were enjoying our meal. UNFORTUNATELY, she was so sweet that we couldn’t break it to her that the food was TERRIBLE. I honestly believe that my meal at Coquinarius was one of the worst meals I have ever had to date. We ordered the charcuterie plate, which had some decent meats, but for the most part, it simply reminded me of cold cuts I could purchase at my local trader joe’s. I didn’t want to complain about it, especially so early on in our meal, so I pretended to enjoy the meats until the main dishes arrived. I ordered the highly recommended pear and ricotta ravioli, and my friend ordered the beef cheeks. Uf. Just thinking about these dishes just makes me gag. The ravioli was sooo rubbery, and it literally tasted like microwaveable pasta that had been under-nuked. And the beef cheeks… gawwwwwd, the beef cheeks! I am not even exaggerating when I say that it tasted like super bad airplane food. The flavor was like baaaad gravy… And the texture of the meat was… something like… fully thawed meat that is not cooked at all, but left out for a day. I don’t even know what that was. We took bite after bite, trying desperately to like the food. But, after forcing about a quarter of our dishes down our throats, we just gave up on trying to like Coquinarius. It was such a terrible start to our epic food adventure. Thankfully, there were a number of other restaurants that made up for it, but still… WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I cannot recommend this place, and, in fact, this is one place I would go out of my way to tell people to avoid. So, YOU, find some other good eats on Firenze! WHATEVERYOUDO, DONOTWASTE A MEALHERE!

Total tourist trap! The service was really slow and we were in no need to rush but it took us forever to get our wine. We ordered a couple items to snack on before dinner. First off they came on those cheesy Denny’s /Sizzler clear plates and neither dish was good. The food was a bad interruption of what Americans think quality Italian food should be. We quickly shot gunned our wine and went to an old standby for dinner. Some times you just need to know when to get out and move on. At least you will have this warning.
