I’m honestly embarassed to admit that our first drink in Florence was at an Irish pub. But we had a good excuse! Florentines don’t eat until a bit later in the evening, and we had foolishly gone to a restaurant at 7 and found it empty. We camped out at Finnegan until the night got more lively. It was a perfectly passable place to spend an hour. The owner is Scottish, we met him on a subsequent night(yes, we came twice). We went in the off-season and there wasn’t much of a crowd, but that may well be different in summer. It’s pretty dark in there, and not the cheeriest of atmospheres. Good to sit in the corner with a pint of Magners for a private chat, but find another bar if you are looking for a lively scene.(Again, remember, I went in February on a weekday!) Bartenders were helpful though and gave us some information about the neighborhood. Just felt a bit silly to be in there, such typical Americans/Brits we were!

Friendly service, good drinks, a little pricey but that’s normal in Florence. Great variety and selection. They play good music, not really a rowdy place, it’s good to meet friends here and, of course they speak English so no language barriers there.
