Excellent meal, our first in Florence. Not a big place, seems to be frequented by locals. Superb pasta, even for someone like me, who doesn’t like pasta. Excellent wines, quite affordable. Outstanding service, with owner being on top of things at all times. Highly recommended!

Florence was our second stop while travelling around Italy, and foodies should be aware that Florence is truly a touristy city with lots of mediocre, touristy food. Fortunately we were given the name of this quaint little place by some locals and decided to check it out. The staff did not speak any english — which we took to be a good sign — and the menu was entirely in Italian — another good sign. We opted for a simple appetizer and then two pastas — the bigoli with chicken livers and the linguine with clams in a creamy saffron sauce. Both were excellent and amongst the best food we ate in Florence. The chicken livers were nicely cooked and very flavorful, and the seafood pasta was briny in just the right way but smooth and creamy to balance it out. Pasta was nicely al dente. If you’re in Florence floundering around looking for something not touristy, make your way across the river and find Il Magazzino. Also — there is a gelato place across the square — I’ve forgotten the name of it — but the gelato is very inexpensive and very delicious. A great little place to stop off after you eat!

Il regno del lampredotto e la trippa alla fiorentina. Ma non solo molti anche gli altri piatti sfizziosi. Grande cordialita’. Da provare
