The Italian version of Macy’s. A nondescript building but inside is 5 floors of designer clothes and perfumes at affordable prices. While American products like chuck taylors and levis jeans re really expensive Italian perfumes and clothes were cheap.

3.5 La Rinascente is the Macy’s of Firenze. Actually, it’s more like hybrid of Macy’s and Bloomingdales for all you Americans. They carry brands from Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Levi’s, Paul Smith, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Armani, Dior(Cosmetics), Furla, Comptoir des Cotonniers. Cosmetics and accessories can be found on 1st floor, Women’s on the second, Men’s on the 3rd, bathroom, home goods, and the café on the 4th floor. I was expecting a much larger department store with a better selection of brands, was definitely looking for a wider shoe collection, but I was still able to find great pieces on sale. La Rinascente is in the heart of the shopping district in Firenze. It was a decent reprieve for A/C for the middle of July heat, although there were corners of the store where their A/C system wasn’t working at all.

The rooftop deck offers an excellent view and is fairly priced given the surroundings. We had two glasses of good house wine for a total of ten euros and had some little free snacks thrown in as well. It’s a little out of the way, but that makes it less crowded than you would expect. Take the escalators to the fourth floor than walk up the stairs.

The 4th floor was my favorite featuring lots of unique home items. The rooftop bar was also lovely. Service was really slow and some heating lamps would have been nice since it was a bit cold out. The view of Firenze was stunning and it was not cramped around 7PM.

Oh how I love this place! Basically this is the harrods and galerie Lafayette of Florence and on the café terrace a beautiful surprise(the duomo right there on your face while you enjoy a nice glass of prosecco or tea and yummy sandwiches). My fav part of the store is the home goods. Amazing designers selling the coolest stuff for you kitchen(pictures attached). And the windows of this department store also have cool designs and videos during the holiday season just like harrods and gallery Lafayette… I love Florence and this place is one of the reason’s why :)

If I had to make a comparison of the Rinascente, I’d say it’s the Italian version of Saks or Macy’s type department store. There are a lot of mid to high end merchandise here. The store is in the heart of Florence’s shopping district and the amazing thing about Florence is that it’s full of tourists but doesn’t feel overrun by tourists like Venice. The store has multiple levels of clothing, designer goods and housewares. The top level houses a café with a beautiful view of Florence and the mountains that are in the distance. I believe it overlooks the hospital but I could be seriously wrong about this! The view into the courtyard of what I thought is the hospital has a lot of buskers and tourists watching buskers. The reason for the low rating is if you have gone to the Rinascente in Milan this is a smaller more run down version of that store with a lot less items.

Go to the roof-top bar around sunset for a drink for amazing views over the city. It is a little cramped but it is worth waiting if you have to.
