Lungarno 23

Cet endroit est vraiment beau, ce serait merveilleux de dîner sous cette belle verrière si seulement… si seulement le contenu des assiettes était à la hauteur du lieu (et des prix). Parce qu’on a beau être superficielle, on né se nourrit pas que d’air pur et de jolie déco. Surtout quand on va dans un restau de burger: on a faim. Sinon on serait allé manger gentiment une carotte sur les bords de l’Arno.
Ca faisait un moment que je voulais essayer le burger du Lungarno et à mon grand désespoir, ramage né se rapporta point au plumage: le burger était très moyen, pas catastrophique non plus (pain sans intérêt, un peu sec, sauce d’accompagnement pas géniale) mais les frites si. Je né peux pas jurer qu’elles étaient congelées, mais qu’elles l’aient été ou non, elles étaient fort mauvaises: mollasses, sans goût, pas bonnes quoi: dieu me pardonne, je n’ai même pas fini ma plâtrée. A y réfléchir, la situation serait encore pire si elles n’étaient même pas congelées car alors comment expliquer ce fiasco. Comment ?
Voilà 2 étoiles pour la burger et les frites et je suis plutôt sympa. Mais bon j’arrondis à 3 car le lieu est beau et dans ce monde injuste, ca compte. (Je dois vous dire que je né comprends pas les avis si positifs: soit je suis extrêmement mal tombée, soit tous les précédents visiteurs sont toujours mal tombés en termes de frites avant leur venue ici? Mystère).

After hearing the hype of this place, my wife and I decided to try it. In short, it was a poor experience. The service was rude (not just with us, but with most tables), the food was ‘ok’, but for a $ 25 hamburger, I expect a lot more than ok.
Save yourself the trip. For the same money, you can get a really nice meal overlooking the Arno (unlike their view, where you really can’t see the river at all).

I finally made it to Lungarno 23 after many years of avoiding it because as an American I can be a little judgemental about a great hamburger in Italy. Normally if I go out, I crave a plate of pasta or great bistecca or pesce and tend to make my American favorites at home.
The ambience of the restaurant is very very nice. If you can, try and sit out on the terrace where you can get a great view of the arno river. I like the contemporary modern design and thought it very reminiscent of Santo Graal on via romana.
We ordered wine, which they seemed to run out of certain bottles so find a few choices. We each ordered different burgers. I ended up getting one with a piccante sauce which was tasty but not as hot as lets say… nduja?
To be honest, for the price of the plate, I did expect something better. The bread for me was a little stale and the same I could get at Coop and the burger meat itself had not a lot of flavor, a little garlic or salt went a long way. The french fries were good but I also think that for the price they ask they should do something more special like potatoes out of eggplant or sweet potato or maybe a thinner cut? Mine were a bit cold.
Dessert, panna cotta with coconut and chocolate was delicious, I really liked it. All in all we spent about 26 euros a head for a burger, dessert and a glass of wine. I don’t think I would do that again. but it inspires me to perhaps see if there is a place in Florence that serves truly spectacular burgers… one day?!
