Outstanding pizza! We stopped in by chance to avoid a quick rain storm. As a family of five, we ordered four personal pizzas and a salad. We unanimously agreed this is the best pizza we’ve had so far in Italy. And we’ve been here a week already. Everything is super fresh and VERY tasty.

Ok I will be honest I only came here because of the whole jersey Shore thing. But, but!!! This place is great! Best pizza I’ve had in italy so far. Very fresh tomatoes sauce. It’s just very crowed and noisy. But really good food.

This place is pretty good but I couldn’t help but be a little put off by the way jersey shore may have changed it. The pizza was good. We for a salad and that was good too but there were charges here and there and they only accept cash so it seems like the attitude is a bit like well we don’t have to care cuz we were on jersey shore. It’s hard to imagine the cast there but their underwear still hangs and the door that snooki drew on is still there too. All and all I would recommend for pizza but I think there are other places I wanted to try and the prices and pizzas might have been better.

The best pizza so far from a week in Florence. Good prices and delicious lumps of mozzarella. They make it to order in the giant oven. Highly recommended!

Save yourself, don’t go here. We live in the US and are crazy about European food, especially Italian. The food was so pathetic, we forgot for a while we were in Florence! Close your eyes and pick anything else, chances are it will be much better… you are in Tuscany!

I ate an entire pizza, all by myself, and if I went back, I would do it again. The crust, the sauce, the cheese, all great. They make the pizza out in the open. The staff is incredibly friendly. If you are a pizza lover and plan ahead, you can get lessons from the owner(email is on their website). I will plan ahead for my next visit!

I visited O’Vesuvio back in the summer of 2011, and to tell you the truth I along with several others sought this place out only because of watching Jersey Shore back then when it was on. Since the new season didn’t air yet it felt kinda cool to go and see the place. I’m not sure what preconceived assumptions I had about the pizza but DAMN was it delicious. Everything was fresh, and good quality; I liked the fluffy crust. The pizzas are baked in a wood burning oven and are made to order. You can watch the employees making the pizzas! They serve Neapolitan style pizza, so there’s more sauce than cheese but it’s tasty stuff still. They had a bunch of choices, but from what I remember I chose one of the Jersey Shore pizzas; I think it was the Ron Ron. I’m not sure if they have the custom ingredient pizzas from the cast anymore or if their memorabilia is still up but at the time they had plenty of that stuff. I along with several friends met the owner Marco and his father Mario who were quite fond of us all and were happy we visited. The staff were friendly, and the service was good! I would definitely make a stop in should I return to Italy, and this time it won’t be just for the Jersey Shore memorabilia!

We arrived on a Friday afternoon absolutely famished after checking out Museo di San Marco with plans on going to Museo Galileo in the afternoon. With pizza on the mind we headed to O’Vesuvio and savored our delicious pizza lunch. Walking in, we were thrown off by the atmosphere – a solid month and a half in Italy and we were used to the quiet, rustic, tiny pizzerias and trattorias that we frequented. But O’Vesuvio is spacious, the floors have large slate gray tiles, walls were covered in signed soccer jerseys and metal wainscoting, and a huge pizza oven sat smack-dab in the middle of the restaurant. Even more disconcerting were TVs blaring music videos. This was just one of the differences that sets O’Vesuvio apart from the other pizzerias in Florence. Most pizzerias we had been to offered a limited number of pizzas – usually 5 – 8 but maybe up to 10 – 12. I lost count of how many pizzas O’Vesuvio offered – definitely over 40 different kinds, plus calzones. The different kinds of toppings and sauces reflected the diversity of flavors from all over Italy – Lazio, Umbria, Tuscany, etc. It was neat seeing what ingredients represented which regions. We opted for 4 pizzas: pesto and cherry tomatoes, capers and anchovies, margherita, and salame picante(aka Italian pepperoni). Our pizzas were tasty, bursting with flavor. My pesto pizza was a bit oilier than the others but that was expected with a pizza covered with pesto. We agreed, though, that the other pizzas, which had a tomato sauce base, had wonderful bright flavor that made them slightly better than the pesto pizza. Some slight qualms – the pizza dough was a tad saltier than the pizza at our favorite pizzeria in the city, and not as airy, as well. Also, as others mentioned, they only take cash. In the end, O’Vesuvio wasn’t our favorite pizzeria in Florence but it definitely is one of the better ones in the city. If you’re looking for a more modern pizza experience in Florence, O’Vesuvio is the place to check out.

Not very good and disappointing. The toppings for olives, artichoke, and prosciutto, were put on unevenly and haphazardly. The artichoke and olives weren’t seasoned either. The dough was a little chewy and didn’t have much rise or flavor, which is surprising considered they are very proud it rises for 2 days before they bake it.

If you don’t go for anything else go for the antipasto plate! OHMYGOSH amazing, everything was freshly slices and you are given fresh mozzarella on top of it! We split that and the Napoli calzone and loved them both! It was huge so it was more then enough for two people for lunch! It is not far from the the duomo at all right off where there are a bunch of stores. This house white was excellent as well and I encourage trying it!

Italian pizza sucks I guess. Not sure what everyone is raving about this place being particularly good, I got a ricotta stuffed margherita pizza and it was boring. I’ve heard of Italian pizza being lackluster but with all the great reviews, I’m very surprised. It seems like the typical, disappointing Italian pizza. It was flat, soggy, and cheeseless. There were some additional fees to the pizza alone that totaled to the pizza costing WAY more than it was worth. The service was also very typical rude Italian. AND it was slow. Ehhhh… I was mostly excited to try this place because of the Jersey Shore thing.

This is a great place for a very quick personal pizza! We tried the following: Pizza with spicy salami and spicy sausage — a bit too spicy for me, but my friend liked it Margherita pizza with truffle oil — amazing! Eggplant pizza Caprese salad — mozzarella was just ok and the salad is served with lettuce Each pizza is about 7 – 8 euro and you can get a 3 euro draft beer Great stop in Florence!

Two pizzas and one calzone to feed 4 people! #success. Our tour guide recommended this place and we went back the next day. The best pizza, in my opinion was the artichoke and prosciutto pizza but everything was amazing! Best pizza I ate the whole two weeks in Italy — and I ate a lot of pizza!

Best pizza we had in Italy! We have travel Italy for the past 10 days and had our tastes of different pizzas throughout but none compare to the pizza here. The dough is thin and crispy, not thick or chewy. Amazing! Plenty of indoor seating and the service was fast.

When we learned that the Mercado was closed on Sunday I quickly looked on Unilocal for a place for lunch. I knew I wanted pizza so I searched for pizza places and found this place. My Dad and I had a little trouble finding it. Kinda got lost in the narrow chaotic streets of Florence, but we found it eventually. The rest of our party was waiting for us in the back. They had already ordered some prosciutto, mozzarella and bread to munch on. I browsed the menu and picked out three pizza’s for the five of us, O’vesuvio(which is topped with spicy sausage, salami and cherry tomatoes), Extra Margherita and Lucana(which is topped with Italian sausage and cherry tomatoes). As I munched on their prosciutto, mozzarella and bread I could tell that this pizza was going to be bomb. Just the appetizers were awesome by themselves. The pizzas were a reasonable size, our waitress had told us that they were personal sized. I guess a medium sized pizza is personal sized for Italians. I reminded my party to eat their pizza with a knife and fork, that’s the Italian way. These pizza’s were the best I’ve ever had. When I normally think of pizza I think of a piece of soft bread with acidic tomato sauce and greasy cheese. This pizza dough was thin, yet chewy, the tomato sauce was mild and the cheese was anything but greasy. I think I must of had five pieces of pizza more than I normally eat in one sitting. If you’re looking for something spicy get the O’vesuvio. It’s got little mines of spicy sausage that take your taste buds on for a wild ride. If you want something more mild go for the classic Margherita. We got the one with extra cheese, since nothing is better than more melted mozzarella cheese. Then there is the Lucana which is also a mild pizza just with added meat. The Italian sausage was so mild it was almost sweet, really good. As for serving sizes our party of five only left one slice of pizza and some crust behind. You’re probably going to eat more than expected because it’s just that good. Best pizza I’ve ever had, I would come back in a heartbeat.

Needed some simple and delicious pizza to take away one night, so I jumped online and found this place, which was less than two blocks away from where we were staying. It was not until I read a few more reviews that I discovered this was then place that the Jersey Shore cast worked when filming in Florence! I got a chuckle out of that. Don’t let it deter you though. The pizza was just what I was looking for — hot, fresh, and well priced. I got the margherita pizza(my go to, 6 euros) and the Emiliana, which has prosciutto, arugula, shaved Parmesan, and a couple of other basic ingredients(9 euros). Both were good, and ready within ten minutes! We may or may not have snuck away to a nearby gelateria(Marco Ottaviano II) for pre dinner gelato while waiting, but I will write a separate review on that. When we got back to the apartment, we discovered that the cheese on the Emiliana got stuck on the top of the pizza box, which was unfortunate, but that was probably my own fault. Just be careful! Also, the décor inside leaves something to be desired. It was kind of fluorescent, harsh lighting if I remember correctly. Lots of space inside, but I wouldn’t say there was a romantic ambiance. The bathroom says«Snooki’s Room», so how could here be?

This was the first place I tried Italian pizza when I went to Italy. I was with family so I randomly chose this place and what do ya know, this is where the jersey shore cast worked. What a coincidence. I only realized that when I went to the bathroom and there was a door that had«snookis room» written all over it. Anyway, I got the truffle pizza and it was so delicious! It wasn’t over priced like all of the other tourist pizza places. It hit the spot for sure. The staff was really nice as well and the place itself was not crowded during lunch time.

We were pulled in as we walked by and glad we went in. Loved it! Went in 2 times during my 2 day visit in Florence. My favorite pizza in Italy! Staff was awesome. Our travels took us to Sorrento and Rome after Florence so we recommended this pizza to others traveling around Italy.(Note:don’t let locals from Naples hear you had the best pizza in Florence) I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews about the Jersey Shore crew working here. I probably would not have walked in knowing Snookie worked in that kitchen. :)

J’adore leur pizza cuite au feu de bois. Ils les font devant vous la pâte et les produits sont frais et bons. Vous pouvez manger tout les bords de la pizza. Dommage que la décoration né soit pas très typique mais on peut allez la manger dehors aussi. I love their pizza cooked over a wood fire. They make it in front of you. The pasta and other products are fresh and good. You can eat all the edges of the pizza. There is no decorations but you can take your pizza and eat outside
