My sister and I took a two week vacation in Italy and this was one of our FAVORITE dining experiences. During our time in Florence, we stayed at a hotel down the street. It was midweek at the end of December and a little rainy, so we decided to just look for a restaurant nearby. Sed Lex has about 4 or 5 tables, so it seats maybe 15 – 20 max. We knew our essential Italian phrases so we were able to greet, be seated, and order some wine(very important). However, when it came time to selecting our courses we needed help. The owner said, «This is a restaurant for locals so we don’t have the menu in English» and then proceeded to explain what EVERY dish on the menu was! Plus he mentioned a few things that weren’t on the menu, i.e. the wild rabbit dish that I devoured. My sister ordered a melt-in-your-mouth beef wrapped in bacon entrée served in a deliciously sweet sauce. Both were absolutely amazing! Before and during our main courses, the owner kept bringing out wonderful breads and dipping sauces. We were stuffed, but we couldn’t pass up the highly recommended chestnut cake. Sooo good! Just when we thought we were in heaven, he brought us some moscato on the house! This delicious, very good quality meal was reasonably priced too! That made us two very happy college students. I also loved how friendly and attentive the owner and waitress were with all of their patrons. It’s a bit off the beaten tourist path but if you happen to be in the area I definitely recommend it! Exceptional service and food without breaking the bank!
