I was welcomed by all the staff warmly. Antica Trattoria da Tito. They tried to seat me in the front but I requested to be put in the atmospheric back room. The décor is rustic but not overbearingly so. It feels much warmer than it is with the walls textured red. I’m seated amongst two couples, arriving at the same time as me, who appear to be ready for a big meal, starting off with fiore fritti and a plate of meat and crostini. They are dressed well. There is a British family in the corner gabbing about this or that refined thing, can you say anything about anything other than South Africa? I’ve ordered the pappardelle with wild boar, a half portion, and the sliced beef sirloin with artichokes, a glass of the house red. I’m eating meat tonight. The pappardelle was phenomenal, I enjoyed it greatly. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce was sweet, and the boar was so tender I had difficulty picking it up with my fork. Four more tables have filled up. Behind me are two American girls ordering this and that quite frivolously, which wine would you pair with this dish? Like, this is perfect. The couple next to me is hashing out their dinner order in English, but he speaks Italian well. The beef sirloin with artichokes was absolutely incredible. I felt like I was making love to the dish, or was touched by an angel the moment I began, the steak served rare, the artichokes soft and tasty. I fell in love multiple times, the dish truly made my shiny lips smile throughout. On to dessert. The back room is really buzzing now with variously sized parties. Table of five, four parties of two, a family four, and a party of six towards the back. The English family has left. The cheesecake was light and fluffy with a sweet berry on top. I now await my coffee to put the final nail in my coffin. On my way out the man at the bar invited me to try liquor infused with allora, it’s given me a glow similar to its own; brilliant green and sweet. Very few eateries can singlehandedly create a filter through which you view their locale with; Trattoria da Tito has sent me off into the night feeling like one of their own. At this moment after the sweet, the savory, and the kindness of every staff member so fresh in my mind, I can see only beauty in my surroundings.

Casual and very friendly. We ate there several times during our stay in Florence. The food is very good and the staff is attentive. The wine list pairs well with the menu. Make sure you make a reservation.

Carnivorous barely scratches the surface of the amount of meat my diet once consisted of. During midterm week, I had been complaining of the effects of long term protein deprivation(my melodramatic way of highlighting the absence of meat in my life) and stating that I was planning on dining alone, when my friend Paul offered to join me so long as I waited until Thursday. We briefly discussed getting a reservation to which he replied, «the reviews online don’t say anything about reservations, we’ll be fine.» Thursday rolled around(for those of you wondering, I aced most of my midterms) and I found myself pulling on a black dress and heels. Note to self: no heels ever again– cobblestone is ruthless. I cajoled my villa mate, Bern, to put on something pretty and dragged her along with us. We arrived at Trattoria da Tito and one thing was clear– we should’ve gotten a reservation. The small restaurant was jam packed with people casually drinking and dining while the owner charmed everyone via his playful antics. We managed to weasel our way into an hour time slot and in spite of how pressed for time we were– I can say this for all three of us– we enjoyed ourselves. We were seated in a small alcove near the kitchen, next to a very sweet couple from Arizona. We chatted about college and our lives while we waited for our appetizer and steak. I was kinda stressed out due to the fact that the waiter had reprimanded us for ordering two things that were large and would take a considerable amount of time to eat. Paul and Bern comforted me by stating that the party who’d reserved the table we were seated at were probably Italian and would be late(they were right). The appetizer was perfect for a group of three. The sundried tomatoes and creamy cheese did it for me. Paul was taken by the artichokes– he ate all three(haha). The steak(which was rushed and took approximately 20 minutes to cook) was extremely well prepared and satisfying. It was rare inside,(which isn’t preferable to most) but as a non-native I thought it was nice to indulge in a traditionally cooked bistecca alla fiorentina. Afterwards, as all three of us looked to one another rather triumphantly(considering we’d managed to finish the meal three minutes before we turned into pumpkins– sorry poorly executed Disney reference) Paul looked to me and admitted with a laugh, «we should’ve made a reservation.» «What was that?» «We should’ve made a reservation.» So ladies and gents? Make a reservation. Nonetheless, we throughly enjoyed the meal and company. We went up to pay and discovered that the couple we had briefly spoken to had decided to pay for our wine(which was very sweet– I wish them the best during their travels through Europe). After we paid for our two plates, Tito brought forth several glasses and poured rounds of limoncello for anyone within 5 feet of him. Tipsily, we wandered back to the fermata and the rest can be summed up through two phrases: I tripped and good food.

Make a reservation if you are dining on a weekend. My wife and I showed up without one at 19:30 on a Saturday. We were told that there was a table for us, but we had to be gone by 21:00. I had the beef filet. It was a generous size for the price.(At least by American standards. I loved the cook on it: rare in the center with a crusty char on the outside. It was tender and yummy. It didn’t have the delicious aroma of the beef at Perseus, but the price is much more reasonable and the quantity is good for one person. My wife had ravioli with meat sauce. She described it as Chef Boyardi. I must agree that it was underwhelming. We received«tomato soup» as a free appetizer. It was unlike any soup I’ve ever had. It was actually a very thick sauce that was great spread on bread. The wine selection was above average for the places we’ve eaten in Italy so far.

Antica trattoria«da Tito» dal 1913, Florence. This is one of the most well known and famous steak house in Florence, Italy. They are very well known for their 1.2Kilo Floritine local steak. Hence Ive ordered the famous Florentine steak. Note that they ‘only serve’ their steaks rare. This place has shown me what a real steak should taste like. The flavor I had never ever tasted from a red meat steak elsewhere. It had this grass fed clean taste with its deep taste like almost a white truffle. This was better meal than some of the michelin star restaurant meals Ive had in the past. Atmosphere felt like a pure Florence artist vibe and just unbelievable. This is one experience that I will treasure for life time. Their red wine ‘Castel Giovondo Brunello Di Montacino 2006′ was fantastic with the meat. I couldnt be more happy and satisfied with this meal in Florence.

Also, ja, natürlich Aqua!!!

People here are very welcoming and nice, but food is really quite average. The appetizer we had(cheese and some dry meat) was good and I also liked the bread. But the risotto I had and the dishes of my(italian) friends were not bad, but honestly not super good either. My risotto was really disappointing, with the rice a bit over cooked and the asparagus full of water so that the whole dish was not great. Plus not very tasty. So if you want good food, go somewhere else, there are plenty of places all over the city. If you want a joyful atmosphere, you can still go there.

We managed to get squeezed in despite not having a reservation. The place has a casual, very friendly atmosphere. We ordered the wild boar pappardelle and cured swordfish carbonara. They were both incredible. We had a time limit of 1 hour due to the place being booked up and we demolished our pastas in minutes. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauces were to die for. All the servers were incredibly affable and they even gave us a complimentary limoncello after the meal. One of the best meals we’ve had in our trip. I would definitely visit here again. Their specialty was the Florentine steak. If we didn’t have that the day before, we would have ordered it. It looked absolutely amazing.

It sounds silly to say, but: The best Italian food I have ever eaten is in Italy. When you live in and around cities with large Italian populations: NY, Boston, SF, you tend to think you’re having really good food, and yes, you are. Then you go to Italy, and you think: «Oh. So THIS is what it’s supposed to taste like.» The best tips I can give are: make a reservation, go hungry, and go with a group of 4 – 6 people, that way you can try as many dishes as you can. They’re all worth it. We got: Octopus and Potatoes, Fried Bread with prosciutto and cheese, tagliatelle with pancetta, favas and pecorino, Papardelle with Wild Boar Ragu, Osso Buco and Sirloin with Grilled Green Onions(and tiramisu for dessert) Each dish was really good. For me the stars were the Fried Bread and the Tagliatelle. Fried Bread is, well, fried bread. So, duh, it’s going to be good. But the Tagliatelle was fantastic. I have never had a dish of pasta that was so good. Even after we finished, I was tempted to see if the kitchen was still open so I could get another plate so I could gorge myself until I exploded. The servers here are super friendly, they make you feel like family. The digestifs they give you after are good; drink a lot of the green one… it’s REALLY good :) I don’t know if I’ll ever make it back, but when you go, enjoy yourself! Thanks to everyone at the restaurant!

OVERALL: would give them a ZERO if I could, terrible experience and wasn’t worth the money. if you want a great Italian meal go to Giostra and don’t waste your time here. Food: had this place personally recommended by a close friend who said it was the best meal she’d had in Florence and went in with very high hopes. had a reservation at 8 and arrived on time but was seated with a waiter who expected us to know our orders within 2 minutes and scoffed at us when we asked for more time. ended up ordering the paperadelle with wild boar ragout and the asparagus risotto and both were incredibly underwhelming. the pasta was horribly overcooked and they used small chunks of boar that looked like meat scraps instead of the traditional long shredded pieces and the dish lacked flavor, depth and composition. the asparagus risotto had clearly been prepared far in advance and had been sitting out. the asparagus pieces were so overdone they were difficult to eat and there were no buds included only the ends that aren’t even normally eaten, which was incredibly disappointing considering its asparagus season. the ambience and staff: the restaurant has their staff dressed in tasteless t-shirts with sexual jokes all over them that certainly don’t belong in a nice restaurant, I’d hate to have someone have to explain to their small child what a «MILF» is, if you want to dress like you belong in a Hooters, go work there instead. additionally they let musicians play incredibly loud music within the restaurant and allow them to walk around to tables and DEMAND money after they’re finished which is just completely tacky and classless. don’t waste your time here.

I would never be the kind of person who is considered a foodie, and as such I go to restaurants as much for the ambiance and service as I do the excellent food. What I found at this restaurant fell short on all accounts, and left me wondering how I was talked into coming here. Service was pushy, waiters seemed in a hurry, and with a lackluster pasta dish I couldn’t wait to get out of here. The restaurant has a local guitar player come in and play music to lighten up the mood, which was just fine. However, after playing a few songs, the musician quickly went around the restaurant pushing for money. Now I’m not saying left a tray on the table and said«tips are appreciated», but literally met each table and stood there asking for money until it was provided. Talk about a negative experience. To anyone hoping for a great meal during their time in Florence, please avoid this restaurant.

This place is amazing. We heard of this place on trip advisor and arrived at 650 pm to find a small crowd of people waiting outside of the restaurant waiting for it to open at 715. The atmosphere is so fun & welcoming. We were told we had to finish eating by 830, which gave us an hour and 15 minutes, but that was totally fine by us. They were packed solid. I got the bruschetta to start, followed by the roasted chicken leg with potatoes. This was to die for. I don’t know how they made the bruschetta taste so delicious. Moist & flavorful chicken and potatoes. The owner seems like such a fun character. As a couple was leaving he offered them shots, then poured my table a round of shots before we left. He was a blast! An owner who truly loves what he does. Don’t see that too often where I come from! Definitely a MUST see! Call in advance for a reservation, or arrive at 640 before opening!

Probably the best restaurant in Florence! Their signature florentine steak is absolutely perfect. Customer service is top notch. Just be sure to arrive early at night right when they open at 7:15pm or else it could be hard to get a seat in here as the place is very small and tons of people trying to get in. Their house appetizer plate is also worth a try with cheap wine. Enjoy!

Crowded, but fun. That describes Da Tito very well. Expect a lively night out with some amazingly well prepared food. Everything was beyond perfect. Our antipasti platters — an eggplant caprese, prosciutto and crostini toscane — was really good and very big. Our pastas were just as good. The Tuscan pasta, Pici, with minced chicken and zucchini flowers was magnificent. Wines are — as always in Italy — very cheap. A big plus. The staff can be a little strange — that’s just the way it is. It is fun and part of the restaurant.

Super awesome restaurant! Bruschetta with florence-authentic stuffing that we ordered for appetizer was very light and fresh: you can taste the flavor of each of the ingredients in every single bites. Ossobuco was very good while the duck was crazily tasty! The waiter was also very friendly; we got a free limoncello shot from the cashier when we’re queuing to pay the bill.

Tito is a Florentine must. It’s such a big place and we eat any kind of trashy food in here, steak and fries and overall, so much pizza! It’s the best for numerous birthdays and for a casual night out with your friends, it’s our kind of diner, always there to comfort you and stuff you with exaggerated full dressed meals. Try the calzone too, it’s amazing! And your pocket won’t resent it!

This place is amazing, service is great, from the moment we stepped in. The starters like cheese are delicious, the tick pasta is very yummy. The best of the place is by far all the things they give you just because you came in like, limoncello, we didn’t finish our wine so we asked for the cork to take it to the hotel, they didn’t find one, so they gave us one bottle of wine to take away — for free, just like that. Will this happen to everyone? No, but the service and food will be amazing for sure.

By far one of the best restaurant experiences you can have! I came twice during my stay in Florence. If you enjoy waiters and good runners making jokes, being sarcastic and fun this is a spot for you. Don’t come here if you’re uptight Outside had a line before they opened at night, I knew it had to be good. The storefront had a bunch of different signs like a rainbow flag, warning sign that they play loud music, and jokes. They will ask if you’ve made reservations. If you come at opening time without reservations you should be fine. –Make Reservations they will turn you away if they are full. Walk in and chances are you’ll see Titto behind a counter with a list. There are many old photos of Titto in the front of the restaurant. He will set you up with a waiter who speaks your language. The waiters have great personalities, and the work t-shirts are slapstick like ‘Monica Lewinsky’, and ‘Milf’ shirts. It’s a cosy restaurant. They have displays of old wines. They sit a bottle of Chianti at the table to entice you. The wine rack is made of concrete blocks holding the wine. The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant facing the restroom. Yes you might get something ‘on the house’ if you come here with a great attitude. Spumanti upon arrival, an appetizer, even huge shots of limoncello when you go to pay your bill, or a limoncello carafe at the table when you get the bill. They also do give out bottles of wine for certain occasions. Now, The food! The appetizers I tried the lives on toast and fresh sliced prosciutto. My husband and I really loved the liver, had such a great flavor, and he’s no liver fan! We also had another night Sheep’s cheese with walnuts and the fresh bread. Wow this was really good. I saw other beautiful antipasto plates served here and it’s perfect for sharing, and goes great with wine. I had the Bone in Veal Chop and ordered a side of potatoes to share. The veal is Medium-well. My husband ordered the steak and sauteed mushrooms. I loved how they cook the steak Medium Rare, and it’s sliced and ready to easy on a plate. We gave eachother pieces of steak and decided to trade dishes. This was such a great meal. The potatoes are sliced and panfried crispy with oil. The second time I came here they were better and warmer in temperature(they were almost cold the first time) During our dining experiences we had live music come into the restaurant and play for us at our table. They go around asking for money after a song or two. It was nice and I didn’t feel obligated, but wanted to support the musicians. It was a little wierd that they walk around with their hand out though. They also do play loud music top 40 stuff and the waiters sing along with Italian accents it’s great. You can also sign the walls in here with a pen and write about where you’re from. I wrote in Italian ‘it’s my honeymoon and I love the steak!!‘ My husband and I came back on a Monday night and this time with reservations. It was still packed for a Monday, and yes I still got to watch people without rsvps get turned away at the door. There’s one bathroom for the whole restaurant. When washing your hands here, if you need to know how to turn on a sink with no faucet-knobs, look down and press the pedal — water pedal!!? Ok I’ve seen it all now He ordered a large bottle of beer, and we were going to share the Steak Florentine, and the potatoes. The steak came out 3lbs huge and sliced, you can still see the veins pumping blood(kidding) but they cook it medium rare, and with the Bone. The best parts are near the Bone, So good. Yes I tried to eat of the Bone, it’s that good. And as I mentioned the potatoes were better this time around. Such a perfect meal. The espresso is expensive, tiny and not that great. Shots shots shots, wow I don’t know how these waiters function??! Yes you can give your waiter a tip if you had great service, and they do split it with the staff. Dinner was about 30 Eros per person with everything included. Florence Gem out of the many restaurants they have. Come here if you want to have a great time, perfect spot before going out at night, or if this is your fun for the night(like me)!

This was the best meal we had in Florence. There are so many restaurants in Florence that serve Florentine stake but we choose this one base on reviews on Tripadvisor and Rick Steve. It was about 10 minutes walk from our hotel. We did not make reservation but when we got to the restaurant, the owner told us that he will let us eat there if we can finish our meal in 1 and a half hour. We said not a problem. At the end when we told him that we will finish a little bit late, he said no problem, we can eat as long as we want. How can you come to Florence and not eat Florentine stake. The stake was huge and cooked to perfection. We order artichoke appetizer. It was so simple but good. It was a plate full with thin slice of raw artichoke with olive oil and cheese. We never have anything like that. Staff were very attentive and friendly. The owner walk around and talk to customers. You paid for your check in the front after you done with your meal. I thank the owner for let us eat there even though we did not have reservation. He gave us lemoncello, so we had a shot with him. He also gave us 8 euro discount. We had such a wonderful time. It was a nice to way to end night in Florence. We would love to come and eat here again when we are back in Florence.
