Overall a pretty nice gym. Although, I do feel like they should have some windows open or fans going sometimes it gets real stuffy. The locker rooms are decent & the sauna is above average. They also have some tropical showers down below which are really cool. I think they should also do student discounts, but they don’t. At least when I asked. Not to many of the employees speak English so I’ve just been going along with what I can understand. The health bar isn’t to good. I believe I saw them serving pizza and espresso one day. Not too healthy, the protein shake I got was terrible and the lady seemed to not even know where they were located. I don’t think they’re big on those out here. Save your money on that. Everything else is pretty good though.

I needed to sweat. After a very indulgent vacation in Sardinia over the holidays, where I ate to my heart’s content during the 10 sunny days I was there, I needed to find something to do to lift my spirits from my post vacation blues. Returning to cold, rainy Firenze, I felt the need to try something new! I am so glad I choose spend a Monday evening at the very luxurious Virgin Active fitness center and Spa. At this UBer spa and gym I spent 30 minutes lifting weights, where I hardly had to wait in line, as there are two of almost every machine so I found it easy to move around and find a machine that was free. The cardio machines were pretty packed though, but again I lucked out because I found a treadmill pretty quickly. After an hour on the treadmill, I moved on to explore the SpA … easily my favorite part of Virgin Active. The spa consisted of two pools, one for laps and the other for relaxing, equipped with jet massage chairs, waterfall and enough space to just float around for awhile. My favorite part of the spa were the scented showers !!! Yes, Scented rainforest showers !! I like to call them the redlight showers, as you stand under a wide shower head, push the red button and lights, water, action !! for 30 seconds you get a heated rainfall experience with scents of wild exotic flowers … I must have been in there for 15 minutes !! Absolutely amazing. The spa also consisted of a steam eucalyptus room, a dry sauna and a lounge room where you could go and take snooze. It was an all around wonderful experience. Here are some tips for you first timers, that I would take note of : 1: There are NO water fountains … so bring your own water bottle or be prepared to pay for water. 2. Bring a lock, for the locker room, or pay 6 euro for lock at VA. 3. Bring Flip flops for the locker room /spa 4. Bring a swimming cap if you want to go in the pool. 5. For you free trial day, make sure to bring Identification! ! You will not be able to enter without ID I was super impressed with this gym and I will be returning soon !
