The beaches of Gaeta and Formia are one of Italy’s best kept secrets! Lido Risorgimento is a private beach located in Formia, Latina, Italy right on the border to the historic city of Gaeta. Many Italians rent the beach space for the whole season, but my family and I just went for a few days. Chair/umbrella rental by the day is 25EUR and you can enjoy coffee and snacks in the cabana on the beach. Espresso for 1EUR and cappuccino for 2,50! You can’t beat that! Also available to rent is a pedalo boat, paddle boarding, windsurfing and canoeing. We were there during the last week of the season and were almost the only ones on the beach, but I didn’t mind. The weather was gorgeous and I had all the swimming, sunbathing, paddle boarding and napping in peace that I wanted! Luigi and Marilisa, the owners, are extremely friendly and helpful and had lots of tips for nearby excursions and site seeing. There is so much to see within 10 or 15 minutes of the beach! They speak English very well. You can see Mt. Vesuvius, Ischia, and sometimes Capri, right from the beach. The port of Formia is nearby and you can conveniently take a trip to nearby islands. See you there next summer!
