For starter we had burrata with truffel. Very good. Primi we shared ravioli with truffles and mushroom, and pappardela(pasta) with wild boar. Also excellent. Secondo we had tagliata(sliced meat) with spinach and grilled vegetables. Also very good. Wine, we simply had the house wine, local chianti classico which was very good. Service was excellent. Location is up in the hillside, very nice to walk around before the meal. Recommended. Ps. Make reservation for outside.

Fantastic fantastic fantastic! Best food we had in Tuscany. Romantic atmosphere. It’s run by a small family. You must stop here if you are in the area.

During our 10 day trip to Italy, we spent the majority of our time in Tuscany, eating some of the best food and drinking some of the best wine of our lives, in one of the prettiest places on earth. And this gem, which we happened to find by accident on our way to the Greve wine festival, was by far the best experience we had during our entire trip. I just can’t say enough good things about this place. The first thing you notice about La Castellana is that the tables are situated on the side of a huge hill with an amazing view. As soon as we sat down, we noticed that the majority of the other diners were locals. Great start. We ordered the bruschetta and the cheese/meat plate. Amazing. They had a venison salami that was one of the best things I have ever put into my mouth, and the bruschetta was very good as well. I ordered the steak with a grilled portabella mushroom. My mouth is literally watering as I write this. It was just simply amazing. Perfection. The rest of the table had steak in peppercorn sauce, a wild boar bolognese, and eggs with fresh truffles. Everyone said it was the best meal they had during their time in Italy. The table wine was probably the best we had as well. The staff would get 5 stars even if the food would not have. It was not a serious atmosphere by any means, but I felt like it was very important to them that we enjoyed our entire experience, and we did. We left feeling like we had been going to La Castellana every Saturday afternoon for years, and knew every server by name. If you are in or around Greve, please do not miss out on the opportunity of dining here.

You must try to go to this little gem in Montefioralle up the hill from Greve in Chianti. The food is exceptional. I had a delicious vegetarian gnocchi for first followed by a pork steak that was cooked perfectly in Tuscan style with simple herbs of rosemary. The local Montefioralle wine is really exceptional — some of the best if not the best chianti in a world of great chianti IMHO. The place is small and right by the side of the road as you enter Montefioralle from the road from Greve. Make an effort. The city itself(well, the little hill top town) is also well worth a visit and makes it on many tourist itineraries. Also recommend the stuffed ravioli with fresh brown truffles sauce. UNBELIEVABLE.
