This is a review for the office where you pick/change your family doctor, in the 4th floor of this building. If you move to Milan(and you’re not an expat with a private healthcare plan), chances are you’ll have to visit one of these offices to choose your doctor. And even more chances that you’ll lose your patience here. The offices are open mon, tue, thu, fri from 8.30 to 12.00 and 13.30 to 15.00 and wed from 8.30 to 15.00, and probably also saturday mornings. But even if you arrive by 8.30(or 13.30) there will already be a queue to get a number so get ready to wait(be prepared for strong smells). When it’s finally your turn, you’ll have to enter a room and ask to be assigned a doctor. If you’re familiar enough with the process, your best option is to go online to the A.S.L. webpage, where they have a list of the family doctors and pediatricians, and check which ones are near your home/office or have the best times(note that in Milan most doctors meet you only upon appointment, as if you could know when you’ll get sick so you can make an appointment… Milanese mysteries). Then bring your list to the office and show the employee, s/he will tell you which of those doctors are available(I normally bring a list of 10 names, at least one of those should be available). If you don’t have a list just ask the employee which one is the nearest available, they should be able to assign you a doctor. The thing with this service is you lose so much time for a process that could be really fast if they just updated the information on the webpage or create a system where you could choose your doctor online or at least«reserve» the doctor until you go to the office to sign the documents… but who am I to tell the geniuses ruling our healthcare system how to improve?!(right, I’m the one who pays them with my taxes)
