Burger Wave

So I eat a ton of burgers back in the states and consider myself a self-​proclaimed connoisseur. When I have trouble finishing a meal because of the massive amount of food in front of me, that’s a good sign. For ~10 Euro, I got their biggest burger loaded with bacon, egg, and to my surprise beets along with an order of fries and a water. Hands down the most bacon I’ve ever seen on a hamburger… Definitely a hidden gem among the vast variety of Italian food in Milan.

Not as packed (was the heat and the mosquitos invasion such a deterrent???) As last time. We got a table outside and got eaten alive by. Mosquitos. Ok, it is NOT their fault, but i just recommend ya’ll get some repellent if you plan to dine outdoors.
I tried the bacon, pineapple and dunno whatever else burger… STILL not given the opportunity to ask how i wanted it cooked, this time it was bleeding and it wasn’t a juicy nice way.
Sorry my dear birger wave, it wasn’t love at first burger and it isn’t a late bloomer’s love either.
Thought I’d give you a second change but i cab pretty mich guarantee there’s not gonna be a 3^rd.
I may just pop in for your trul6 nice fruity Aussie beer in the future though…

I have eaten here twice so far during my time in Milan and have not been disappointed. The first time I enjoyed the Biddy. Unreal and so juicy! Such a delicious chicken sandwich. Loved it so much. My second time I ate the Ripper. Oh my goodness. The combination of egg and beet on the burger was AMAZING!!!
Might I add the French Fries and sauces are outstanding, too. I love this place and it is great for a big juicy burger.

After all the gourmet burger places that have opened in the past couple of years in town, is it possible to find an unpretentious, good, hearty burger? Yes! and Burger Wave is the place to go!
After reading all the positive reviews of other Unilocalers I had to go check what all the fuss was about and I was not disappointed!
The place is not big so booking is compulsory (for dinner Fridays or Saturdays try calling the day before, same day bookings are tough those days). Décor reminds me of a surfer’s shack, no fancy tablecloths, no ipad orders, just plain good burgers with good ingredients, a nice relaxed atmosphere and low prices, the way it should be!
I’m still drooling remembering my Lambi burger (€ 6,50): lamb meat, guacamole, cheese, salad, herbs mayo and tomato relish. Big portion, juicy meat not overcooked (thanks for that!) and good ingredients (perhaps the guacamole could have been tastier but it’s just me and my guacamole fetish).
I have gotten used to all these gourmet burger places that charge 12+€ for a burger because it’s «gourmet» and has «premium/​DOC/​DOP/​SlowFood ingredients“that finding this place with reasonable prices and yummy real burgers made my day!
They have vegetarian burgers, snacks, soft drinks, draft beers, Australian beers and just one red or white wine option, fair enough because these real burgers go perfectly well with beer (still, the Nero d’Avola we got was drinkable).
And just to top it up, it’s a couple of blocks away from the Unilocalers’ favorite hangout bar, the famous Ginger!

Qui l’hamBurger parla inglese, ma non inglese americano: infatti giunge a Milano via Oceano cavalcando l’onda che, di norma proveniente dagli States, in questo caso arriva direttamente dalla terra dei Canguri, e lo stile è decisamente quello. Una grossa tavola da surf indica l’ingresso di questo locale che è accogliente e piccolo, sembra un po una caverna. Il colore su tutti è il giallo, aiutato nel suo lavoro da un po di arancione, uno kateboard qua e la e piccoli tavoli pronti ad essere spostati opportunamente per far sedere le persone.
Siam arrivati alle 20 di domenica sera, senza prenotazione. Veniam accolti da una sorridente ragazza che subito ci chiede: avete prenotato? Risposta: no. Non c’è posto, i tavoli sono tutti riservati, ma siamo in due e molto gentilmente ci fa accomodare; la prima prenotazione è da li a mezz’ora, perciò decide che va bene, nel frattempo si libererà un altro tavolo.
Ordiniamo 2 wave burger, con carne di manzo grigliato, bacon croccante, formaggio, insalata, ketchup di loro produzione, mayo alle erbe, e due porzioni di patatine. Sia il pane che la carne sono molto buoni, ma non ci han chiesto il grado di cottura e l’hamburger arriva troppo cotto per i miei gusti. Inoltre non c’è molto bacon… anzi ce n’è poco. Il gusto ed il risultato sono comunque ottimi, soprattutto se accompagnati con le patatine giganti: due cestini stracolmi che sembravano non finire mai! Mentre ceniamo mi capita di dare un’occhiata alla tv accesa e vedo dei canguri che saltano come dei pazzi…
Sedersi al tavolo comporta una certa maestria: lo spazio in alcuni punti è angusto, e bisogna coordinarsi nei movimenti per spostarlo cosi da guadagnare qualche centimetro e muoversi meglio.
Durante la nostra cena un numero notevole di persone entra e chiede se c’è posto ma gli viene detto che l’attesa supera la mezz’ora; Burger wave dev’essere davvero gettonatissimo, a giudicare dal via vai incessante di avventori che arrivano per cenare, ordinano da portare via, passano a ritirare l’ordinazione fatta in precedenza, immagino per telefono, e nel frattempo bevono qualcosa fuori dal locale. C’è molta allegria ed energia positiva, questo mi piace.
NB: Occhio allo spuntone di ferro che esce dalla porta ad altezza ginocchio… avvisati!
I prezzi sono onestissimi ed accettano carte, bancomat e prepagate.
E’ vivamente consigliato prenotare, specie nel fine settimana.

You want a good burger, this place is where you want to go. They offer a myriad of delicious burger combinations (they’re even vegan/​vegetarian friendly!). I enjoy the Mini-​Moo as well as the Virgin Burger — both Vegetarian options. But I’m a fan of their meat-​loving options as well.
I can safely say that I haven’t had a burger as tasty as this in a really long time. This is my in-​n-​out, but way way way way better. Perhaps a Murder (excuse me) Redrum Burger replacement.
The space is cramped and it can be packed during the lunch hour as well as late at night. But this place is definitely the best burger place I’ve been to in Italy.
McWho? Oh, right. Just Burger Wave’s DAMN GOOD BURGERS.
