For my few nights in Milan, I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Milan City, check in was fast and easy, was given a room on the 8th floor with a view looking towards Milano Central train station. Hotel lobby was friendly and helpful and offered directions and advice on how to get around. Right out front the door was an entry/exit for underground metro train which made getting around Milan simple and easy. The room was nicely decorated and clean, and on the wall was graphic art of a woman’s face in black in white above the beds which gave the room a modern touch. The room had a mini fridge, an electric kettle with teas & coffees provided, also in the bathroom where a few items in case you forgot or lost something along the way. The only small thing was if you were standing in the bathroom and walking out into the room and happen to look up you would see that the cabinetry does not extend all the way to the wall, and you could see a 6 inch gap in the wall, but really that wasn’t a big deal. Enjoyed my stay at the Crowne Plaza Milan City, wouldn’t mind staying there again when in town.

All in all a really nice place to stay while in Milan. Very English and American friendly. Even if you are a big ugly tattooed guy like myself. The Metro is virtually outside the front door and there some major shopping and boozery to be had in the surrounding neighborhood. The continental breakfast is one not to be missed!

I dread Milan, or Milano. But I like Italy a lot. I’ve had some not so great stays at small stand-alone hotels in this city. I found this Holiday Inn(IHG) Crowne Plaza hotel on the internet and was able to get a good price(in the mid 70 Euro range) during the summer, and not long ago. I stayed a couple of nights, using one day to go north to Lake Como, and then transit down to Florence on the fast train the following morning. First of all, one can tell from the exterior that this is a newer and nicer hotel. Second, the front desk service was the most courteous I have ever experienced in Italy, and in another league from the reputed brusqueness one is supposed to encounter in calloused Milan. Third, the room, and the bed, were comfortable, with all the necessary creature comforts expected in an up-brand Holiday Inn. I’m only deducting a star because some aspects of the room were weird(see photos), and because a continental breakfast was NOT included, as is typically the case in Italy. However, for the special price I got, I could go get a croissant and cup of coffee at any neighborhood bar for about 3 Euros. I was fairly impressed with the Crowne Plaza in Milan(o).
