Ginger Cocktail Lab

On my first night in Milan, we stopped by this small bar for late night drinks (probably around midnight). We were high on US time and were wide awake. I’m not much of a drinker, but my Basil Honey drink wasn’t that bad (3.5÷5 stars). No mini munchies were given to us, and perhaps it was because we didn’t come at an earlier time. I think what gave this place a 4 opposed to 3 stars, is the free WIFI. You know I need to be wifi-​ing because I’m not gonna pay for an international data plan. Overall, if you’re interesting in late night drinks with free wifi by a small canal, this is your place.

Great ambiance, fabulous concoctions, good people — all the things that you look for in a cocktail bar they got it right. My friends and I went here on Friday night. We were in Milan for the weekend and stumbled upon this place while walking around in the Navigli area.
The drinks at the place were great, they split there drinks between sweet cocktails, medium cocktails and strong cocktails. We tried the bison mojito, honey fizz, and a few other drinks. The drinks were strong and tasted delicious. We were sitting at the bar and the bar tender was really patient with us detailing out all the components of the drinks he was making. He also gave us a couple of rounds of shots on the house. The drinks were not that expensive.
My friend and I were able to have a good conversation sitting at the bar and we could hear ourselves easily. The music in the bar was lively and a mix of contemporary and 90s rock.
Overall a great experience!

After reading up on our fair share of reviews on Unilocal and TripAdvisor, my boyfriend and I were excited to sample some of the delights that the Ginger Cocktail Lab had to offer.
We arrived mid afternoon so it wasn’t too busy and decided to sit outside as it was still sunny. The cocktail list is pretty extensive but unfortunately we were both really disappointed with the execution of the menu. Both of our drinks seemed to have potential but were made to the standard that I’d expect from a pre-​packaged cocktail from a supermarket and seriously lacked the finesse that was needed with the ingredients they were using.
Overall the location wasn’t great (overlooking a graffiti clad wall), the staff were ok, and the cocktails were average.
A huge let down after reading such good reviews on here. My advise isn’t to avoid the place, but not to build your hopes up!

Great place for cocktails. I had the basil honey which was so yummy I ended up having 3! They have a nice staff and more than average size for the aperitivo food. We had a birthday celebration of a party of 40+ students from Bocconi here, Federico was awesome in accommodating us. I recommend this spot for weekday drinks!
Can’t wait to return!

Really sorry to give a mediocre review as this is one of the few cocktail bars in Navigli area that have real cocktail waiters and decent cocktails.
But seriously guys, when you’re used to spending time in some of the best cocktail bars in London and Copenhagen, it’s quite the disappointment when the only one highly rated cocktail bar in Navigli can’t make a proper Old Fashion. It just breaks my heart.
We were there for halloween, and the waiter was all dressed up cape and all and wandering quite confused amongst the monsters and vampires, aka guests. They had a busy time, but I guess most weekends are in Navigli.
I quite fancy the tradition in Milan that drinks come with supplementary food buffet, but the buffet at Ginger Lab wasn’t anything to write home about.
All in all, I prefer to have my cocktails at Como Corso. If any of you true Milanese now other places for knock-​your-​socks-​off amazing cocktails, please drop me a line!
