I’m a Ham Holy Burger fan, theirs are for me among the best burgers in town. This location in via Marghera is the original one, or the first one that opened in Milan. Since it’s not really near any of the places I’m usually at(work, home, Brera, Navigli) it’s not my favorite branch but there’s nothing wrong with it: service is super attentive and fast, burgers are excellent(as in any other HHB) and prices are fine. This location is divided in two floors, perhaps the upper floor is better for a more ‘intimate’ atmosphere — they have a tv showing sports games on some nights. Free wi-fi, ipads(also for ordering, which I love) and I even saw a table and high chairs with ipads and earphones — guess if I ever come here alone at least I can listen to the music I like instead of other people’s conversations. Las time I was here I had the special Easter burger made with lamb, omelette, leak julienne and yogurt sauce, it was yummy, wish it stayed in the regular menu! Always get an order of gourmet fries to share, love dipping them in the different sauces they bring, definitely coming back to this location if I’m ever in the area.

I guess I set myself up for disappointment because I was expecting an American style gourmet burger like The Counter in LA. Ambience/décor was just about the best thing about the place. Also that no reservation was needed since 2 other restaurants we stopped at prior were all booked up. You order from an iPad that stays with you throughout your meal; that was a first for me. Seems like that makes this a good place for loners because you can order quickly and surf the net through the meal. Ordering would be a bit cumbersome with a large group because you’d have to enter your orders in one by one. One order of potato wedges was sufficient for 2 people. Didn’t really enjoy the sauces. Thought they would be more like gourmet sauces I’ve had with Belgian frites but not quite. Wished for ketchup and should have just asked for it but didn’t. Ordered the burger medium and it was pretty pink. Wished I had asked for well done. Left cucumbers in the burger by wished I had them left out, wished they were pickles instead. Maybe I’ll come back and give this place another try sometime.

Long time I’ve had this place on my wish list, finally I decided to try it. Place is cold and dark, not very welcoming. They hand you an ipad for orders and to surf during the wait — this adds to the cold sensation. Fun, true, but cold. The key point is the burger: its good. But not worth the 11 € tag price. Fries add 4 €(i tried fries w/5 sauces) and although hand cut, aren’t really that good. I had to drown them in ketchup to swallow without choking. Upside: you can read the NY Times free on the ipad during the wait. Punch line is: good burger, fries no good, too expensive. Still looking for the perfect burger in Milan.
